SCHISM IS COMING TO THE CHURCH UNDER THE GUISE OF HUMAN SEXUALITY; SHOULD WE SIMPLY LET THEM GO, OR SHOULD THEY BE EXCOMMUNICATED?

As I mentioned, the majority of Catholics who disagree with what the Church teaches about human sexuality and the sacramental system Jesus instituted during His public ministry, are ready to form a new schism and a neo-Protestant Church over the Vatican's refusal to genuflect to their demands.

Should the pope simply excommunicate them all and let them go? Wouldn't that purify the Church for Catholics who want to be faithful but since about 2013 think the sands are shifting so dramatically that they really have no roots to claim this or that can't change as the God of surprises allows it or motivates it or the development of doctrine allows for the bastardization of Catholic defined moral and doctrinal teachings?

I think it is time now to play hardball and cut them loose? What say you?

US Christian man sued for not baking cake celebrating gender transition.

Jack Philips, a devout Christian, who owns Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado, is facing legal action after refusing to bake the custom cake, citing it goes against his religious beliefs......Mr Philips had previously faced a legal battle when he refused to bake a custom cake for a same-sex wedding.

Is this story getting much coverage on mainstream media in the USA?

Why can’t LGBT people just go to the probably approximately 90% of cake shops that would have no problem baking a custom cake for any occasion? Probably most ordinary LGBT people do? And only a minority of a minority of LGBT radical activists want to sue devout Christians over issues like this?
Or is it that they hate and won’t accept that a minority of any nation, state or community will not accept (or will even not celebrate) every aspect of their agenda and lifestyle?

Excommunicate: bell, book, and candle. Study Richard Burton’s scene in Beckett

Can you cut loose or excommunicate groups that were never attached to or part of the Church? If they were welcomed into the Church, would they really step into a church? Is the whole reason for the argument to get the Holy Father to say Uncle? Does the Church legislate its teachings or discern them?

I DO think it is time for a more detailed Credo, which purpose was always to separate the sheep from the goats, and assure orthodoxy, and a smaller and more God centered Church is A-OK with me.

Am I still allowed to say OK? How about okey dokey artichokey?

How could this possibly work in practice, could possibly work in the real world?

For example, if every Catholic in the USA, the UK and Western Europe, who would not give a real and declared intellectual assent to : something like “the homosexual orientation is a disordered orientation and homosexual activity is morally evil, or at least seriously sinful”, was excommunicated by a pope that would probably mean anywhere from 60 to 80% of Catholic priests and 60% to 80% of lay Catholics in first world nations would be excommunicated.

However, regarding politicians like Biden and Pelosi or, for example, a number of German bishops, and modernist theologians, Kung and Curran et al, they all should have been excommunicated years ago.

A@1:57, I hope the number of laity that would join schismatic bishops isn’’t that high in number. But this is the reality of the post-Vatican II Church, that Catholics are all over the place in terms of what they believe and what the Church should be. It is fierce individualism built upon a pagan Gnosticism. Scripture, Tradition, the Magisteriums, the Deposit of Faith mean little or nothing to them. This makes what has happened in the Church since Vatican II ripe for an actual schism.

We have to blame Vatican II which destabilized the Church in her entirety and has led to a Church that teaches that God is a God of surprises, capriciously tinkering with the Gift of His Faith and leading people into chaos. The whole ideology of development of doctrine is a meme for the disarray we have been experiencing since the mid 1960’s.

Pope Francis has recovered this chaos and promotes it after the heroic efforts of John Paul II and Benedict to bring sanity back to the Church. It is all very sad.

Father McDonald,

I think the OF (with its myriad of options) may have something to do with the present heterodoxy. Don't like something, pick another option!

Father AJM and others,

Anon@1.57 here,

Regarding my estimates above ie circa 60% to 80% please note I specified the USA, the UK and Western Europe.

I believe the clear majority of practising Catholics in African nations and most Asian nations, and most South American nations too would have no problems giving a clear, real and declared intellectual assent to what the Church officially teaches on homosexuality (and probably abortion, and euthanasia etc too).......very unlike the majority of Catholics in wealthy western nations.

By the way, having had the time to reread a lot of the recent discussions and debates in the comments section on this blog over the past week or so, I think what is VERY easy to forget is that vast millions of Protestant and Eastern Orthodox Christians, in first, second and third world nations around the world, would affirm or strongly believe or agree with official Catholic Church teaching on homosexual acts and the Catholic Church’s OFFICIAL clear cut teaching on abortion.
