Our Permanent Deacon at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Richmond Hill, Deacon and Mrs. Ben Ernst's son, Captain Spencer Ernst, USMC, is deployed on the USS New Orleans. He is a "Viper" Cobra pilot. But first things first! Sunday Mass on the USS New Orleans deck. Then he takes off and is the second person in the Viper Cobra! Keep him and all our deployed and active military in your prayers! This is just too cool!

If those photos are posted with Navy ok, all fine and dandy. If those were sent to you personally and you posted them, you need to scrub this post of names of people and ship, as someone after this guy could get him in serious career ending trouble for breaking operational security. Photos generally have tags as to geo coordinates. Taking photos on installations or vessels can be a very bad thing if one has enemies, and who in this world.lacks those? You need not post this comment, this is just a heads-up.
I sought permission from the dad and deacon who sent them to me and he is active army.
Never the less, in today's culture of "let's use the internet to destroy someone for fun", unauthorized taking and distribution of photographs on military installations/naval vessels/etc, public posting of same with specific names, etc, can cause serious problems.
I personally know of a guy who posted an internet photo which showed a tail number of an aircraft and it cost him his career because he had enemies.
You have given far more, a pilot name, type aircraft, vessel name, even what church he attends when off duty, and again, photos generally have location tags, and more, and there is no such thing as innocuous and harmless today on the internet. If someone wants to make a stink about this and, say, someone with pull buys into it, such as someone who hates Catholics, this simple thing could be blown into a serious matter of busting operational security.
Very cool pictures... thank you for sharing. Great reminder to pray for our soldiers spiritual welfare. Glad there was a priest to offer the Mass!
