Months ago, I read an article which I think but can’t remember at Crux by John Allen, that the Vatican News department is in disarray. He gave examples, but I can’t remember them now, suffice it to say Vatican News was described as being in disarray.
And then in the last few days these silly questionable actions have taken place:
1. St. Peter’s Basilica outlaws centuries of practice of private Masses at its myriad of side altars and chapels. But the outlawing of it comes from the wrong Curial office, without a signature and some thought it was bogus because of it.
Was this a ploy to give progressives a scrap of food when combined also with a questionable news story that the Congregation for Divine Worship would experience a papal inquisition, or, visitation presumably to smear Cardinal Sarah?
Now the purpose for this is being questioned as more bogus news.
But was it to diminish the Congregation for the Doctrine of the faith’s statement today, March 15, the Ides of March, smack down of those proposing to have God bless sin and in this case same sex unions.

Shouldn’t we expect more clarity in management from the Vatican?

You’re behind with the news - see Christopher Lamb’s piece at the Tablet today for an explanation of exactly what’s going on (rather than unsubstantiated rumour).
Personally I think it’s a positive development that there will now at long last be daily public celebrations of Mass at our mother Church - which hasn’t been the case previously. I imagine given the lack of a regular stable congregation that the Cantor will lead simple Latin chant such as the Missa De Angelis. What’s not to like?
The visitation underway isn’t a canonical visitation at all but a pastoral visitation or consultation exercise...
Archbishop Arthur Roche, the secretary of the congregation, told The Tablet: “This is not a canonical visitation.” He confirmed that a consultative “visitation” of the congregation is taking place and likened it to a bishop getting advice ahead of making an appointment. Visitations can take place formally or informally and are used by church superiors to assess communities they have responsibility for.
Finally - you are probably aware of the recent Vatican court trial (of sexual abuse) of the priest chaplain from the minor seminary which provides altar servers for the Vatican’s morning masses. Several witnesses gave testimony of the toxic culture and aggressive rivalry which he fostered between factions favouring either the ordinary or extraordinary forms - highly inappropriate for the spiritual development and welfare of these impressionable young men. This long overdue reform will put an end to all that kind of proto-schismatic nonsense once and for all. My sources inform me that this scandal directly prompted the current changes so you can only blame textremist “traditionalist” priests of this kind who are constantly agitating and causing divisions within the communion of the church!

By the way - just to remind you of a few important words by Pope Francis, long may he gloriously reign, from back in 2017 when he proclaimed....

And Pope Francis approved the Ordinariate Divine Worship, which is a 1965 Roman Missal variant. Do your homework PP.
Yes he did technically - but only because it was already in the pipeline and agreed in principle by the previous papal incumbent - Francis is good like that! Anyway, worldwide weekly attendance at the bastardised Ordinariate “Rite” is below 50 people - mostly autistic odd bods or elderly closeted gays with scruffy beards and spotted bow ties or silk cravats.

So Pope Francis did not recently approve the Ordinariate’s liturgy of the hours, basically an English version of the Tridentine usage? And Pope Francis would never be caught dead celebrating ad orientem. No reform in continuity for this pope.

UK-Priest seems unaware that every Mass is by its nature a public Mass. 'Missa privata' was (until 1960) the official term for a Low Mass, deprived (privata) of the ceremonies attendant on a Solemn Mass. John XXIII, aware of the confusion, substituted the term 'missa lecta'.
A 'private Mass' is one that is not scheduled - no more, no less.
As for 'proto-schismatic' it doesn't make sense in this context or indeed any context I can think of. If you're going to use a Greek prefix, at least use the correct one.

Pope Francis also approved a decree that the so-called Ecclesia Dei Communities which celebrate the EF have attained a "stability of life and number." Which means he acknowledges that they aren't going anywhere. Also, in a meeting with the Franciscans of the Immaculate 2014 he told the friars that he has no problem with priests who want to use the old rite because it helps them adore God better, and that problems emerge when someone wants to use the old rite to attach the Council and the pope.

I doubt UK Priest is a Catholic priest, at least an educated one. He sounds very much like his American “cousin” who posts here under various names!

I get the impression that UK-Priest is a) a priest and b) based in the UK. He reads the Tablet, aka the 'bitter pill', the UK counterpart to the National Catholic Reporter. He uses British spelling. He is probably of 'a certain age', formed in the aftermath of the Second Vatican Council, and very much a dying breed.
Although Lamb’s article in The Tablet is biased, bland, and generally useless (to be expected for a Bitter Pill), if UK Priest is accurate in his trial description (absent from Lamb’s article) would give an explanation for a *temporary* suspension of private Masses *for those who cannot provide a server or some other member of the Faithful to give responses*. Ham-fisted? Certainly. Not the real reason? Probably, but charity demands we not go there (yet).
As to the right way of understanding the two Forms relating? Read Summorum Pontificum. Read Con Grande Fiducia. Two forms of one Roman Rite, neither lessening the riches of the other. The angry Trads need to read it again, the angry Progs like Lamb and UK Priest (and several other commenters here) need to read it again too. There is no place for any kind of schismatic attitudes or rejection of the Council, though I *shouldn’t* have to say that. However, to act as though only the Trads have been badly behaved on this or any number of other matters (recently—but really since 1965) is an exercise in alternate history and/or gaslighting—good will has been in short supply on all sides since the postconciliar reforms began, and not the least from numerous progressive mitered heads.
In reality, why are we sniping at those who find any presently-approved liturgical rite to be fruitful? Where is our sense of Diversity?
I just hope UK Priest is just as fervently protesting the “proto-schismatic” elements complaining about the recent CDF note signed by Pope Francis...
Great comment. I have been in the Basilica for many early morning Masses. In my case, not a private Msss but concelebrated. The altar boys simple lead to the proper altar with cruet of water and wine. Typically they do not actually serve.
