THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

The Archbishop of San Francisco has multiple priests celebrating simultaneously, Holy Mass at multiple altars and ad orientem outside the cathedral on the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady!

Covid-19 has forced safe practices on the OF Mass, ad orientem to prevent aerosolized prayers, no offertory procession, Communion by Host only, the safest way on the tongue and kneeling and now multiple Masses at the same time! What will the Church think of next?!

Among the many things that make you go "Hmmmm.....?"

If we had a bishop like Cordileone in every major city (NY, Philly, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, etc.) we could transform the Catholic Church. He's one of the best.

Archbishop Cordileone needs to live up to his name (Lion Heart) and either censure or excommunicate fake catholic Nancy Pelosi!

Uh, I live in Atlanta, What needs "transforming" here? We've only had a new bishop for less than 4 months.

Salvatore Cordileone has tried to rein in his archdiocesan schools from sending the wrong message to students and setting the bad examples of teachers living in irregular situations. He has stood up to anti-Catholic forces in the Bay Area on a wide variety of issues. He not only encourages our rightful liturgical patrimony, the TLM, but offers it himself. At great personal risk, he went to Golden Gate Park and EXORCISED the area where the statue of Junipero Serra was torn down and called it out for what it was--evil. I do not condemn the bishops of the other dioceses mentioned. I just wish more of them were like Archbishop Cordileone. If they were, we would not be suffering our ongoing Catholic recession.

The idea that an attack on a statue, even of a Saint, is cause for an exorcism is pretty silly. Is he going to go around his archdiocese exorcising windows that get broken by vandals, stuck doors due to shifts in the fault lines, Catholic school busses with dead batteries?

His exorcism seems to me like an attempt to grab media attention, not to make any situation better.

Actually, it's not silly at all. The USCCB website tells us that exorcisms are "just one more way the Church tends to the pastoral care of souls, even those who are not of Her flock." In the preconciliar Rite of Baptism, even the water itself is exorcised. Given that Golden Gate Park was filled with hateful people who destructively took down a statue of St. Junipero Serra, it is a work of mercy and prudence to "clean up" the area for the benefit of all good people who wish to enjoy the park and cannot understand the destructive impulse of anti-Catholic bigots.
