ON THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA, MAY 13, 1981, POPE JOHN PAUL II WAS SHOT; TODAY, MONDAY, MAY 13, 2013, POPE FRANCIS PAPACY IS BEING DEDICATED TO OUR LADY OF FATIMA AT HER SHRINE IN FATIMA, PORTUGAL, 5-13-13

Will Pope Francis be 'The Pope of Fatima?

Today May 13th, anniversary of the 1917 apparition of Our Lady to the three children, the Bishop of Fatima, at the behest of Pope Francis, will dedicate the Holy Father's papacy to Our Lady of Fatima.

For those who know well the Fatima saga and who have a devotion to Our Lady, this will be a welcome move, placing the Fatima message firmly back at the top of the Catholic agenda:

"Repent, do penance and pray"

But it will still fall short of Our Lady's original request that the Holy Father should consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart.

Various Popes have skirted around this request and Pope Pius XII even dedicated the world to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart at the height of World War 2, on October 31st 1942.

But Russia and her errors were not the focus of this consecration as had been asked.
However, the act did mark a turning point in the war and from that moment on, the Allies began to gain ground.

It was the now dead Italian stigmatist, Antonio Ruffini, who prophesied that Pope Francis would be the Pope who would, at last, consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of the Mother of God.

In his own words, in answer to the question:

"Is John Paul II the Pope who will do the consecration to Russia"

He replied:

“No, it’s not John Paul. It will not be his immediate successor either, but the one after that. He is the one who will consecrate Russia.”

Pope Francis has made a bold start by dedicating his Papacy to Our Lady of Fatima, it remains to be seen if, at last, Our Lady's Immaculate Heart will triumph with regard to Russia.

What could possibly be the hold up? The Russian Orthodox perhaps would not like the a Western Pontiff doing this?

Where are all the naysayers who insist that the consecration has already been done and Russia is converted and we are living in peace?

@Roscoe Arbuckle,

In 1946 during a gathering of youth at Fatima, Sister Lucia was asked by a young Russian girl (Natacha Derfelden) how the conversion of Russia would come about. Sister Lucia stated that the conversion of Russia would come through the Orthodox Church and "the Oriental rite", meaning the Byzantine Catholic Church. This statement does not appear to be generally known.

Sister Lucia said that the 1984 consecration done by Blessed John Paul II was accepted by God. Link:

Who are we to disagree with her?

Are we not seeing the conversion of Russia in progress with the re-emergence of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church after decades of communist oppression?

The "document" of Sister Lucia that "affirms" the validity of the 1984 consecration of THE WORLD (NOT RUSSIA) to the Immaculate Heart of Mary has be debunked. EWTN is a nice network, but they are simply upholding the "party line" that Cardinal Bertone has pushed for years and it is that very "party line" view that Pope Benedict himself debunked in his famous statement on May 13, 2010 that one would be deceiving himself to think that the prophetic message of Fatima is finished.

The alleged "affirmation" of Sr. Lucia was a typewritten, unsigned statement, which is interesting in itself since Sr. Lucia did not type, and wrote everything else out in longhand, and, signed everything she wrote.

As far as the Derfelden statement, I am having a difficult time finding any verification of that statement, especially since Sr. Lucia wasn't exactly made available for press conferences. That the conversion of Russia would maintain the Byzantine Rite makes perfect sense. That it would mean everyone remaining Orthodox does not make sense. As much as the accusations fly about the SSPX being "schismatic", it is not likely that the Blessed Mother would want everyone to "convert" to a Church that is undoubtedly in schism, actively persecutes Catholics and is manned by many bishops who are former KGB operatives.

I don't feel any comfort about the future of world peace when I see photo-op shots of Vladimir Putin at a Russian Orthodox liturgy. If that's "conversion" then we're all doomed.

A great deal has been written about Fatima; I am certain of just one thing: we do not know all that Sr. Lucia was told by Our Lady. I have found no reason to be confident in the complete veracity of any of the writings, no matter which position they hold.

I think that everything said made a ton of sense.

But, consider this, what if you were to create a killer headline?

I ain't suggesting your content isn't solid, but what if you added a headline that makes people want more?
I mean "ON THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA, MAY 13, 1981, POPE JOHN PAUL II WAS SHOT; TODAY, MONDAY, MAY 13, 2013, POPE FRANCIS PAPACY IS BEING DEDICATED TO OUR LADY OF FATIMA AT HER SHRINE IN FATIMA, PORTUGAL, 5-13-13" is kinda boring.
You could peek at Yahoo's front page and see how they write news
titles to get people to open the links. You might add a related video
or a related picture or two to get readers interested about what you've got to say.
Just my opinion, it would make your posts a
little livelier.

@ Roscoe Arbuckle,

No, It was Cardinals Sodano and Bertone claimed that Russia has been done. They were liars and evils.

Pope JPII consecrated of the world without mentioned Russia by name without all bishops in 1982, 1984, and 2000.

You should go to the library. Please read "The Devil's Final Battle" by Fr. Paul Kramer. The book is so excellent. It explains why did not Popes consecrate Russia?
