A CUTE BUT VAPID, HERETICAL, SACRILEGIOUS VIDEO TO CORRUPT OUR YOUNG AND NOT SO YOUNG

This is one way to make neo-Protestants out of our young women. These are the ideologues that Pope Francis decries.

I see on their website that one thing they want is to "Incorporate women-centered theologies into every-day Catholicism." Hmmm . . . Holy Mother Church . . . Blessed Virgin Mary . . . hmmm . . .

The lyrics seem very Montanist to me. And these . . er, ladies . . er, womyn . . . believe themselves to be something new when all they're doing is embracing an 1800 year old heresy.

If women do not like the old male stereotypes of them being vapid, silly, giddy, distracted, impetuous, fickle, and suitable primarily for physical pleasure and visual stimulation (in some cases), then they need to stop embodying these attributes and displaying them at every opportunity...

Why don't they put their efforts not becoming nuns or sisters or gathering vocations for such? I mean, these gals are presumably cool with the celibacy and want to be spiritual directors for others... Holy Mother Church already has a place for them in religious orders.

If they're not cool with all that, there's always the Episcopalians, who helped them make this video.

I agree with Gene. One of the things that's outrageous about the priestess thing is that they are suggesting that their hurt feelings matter more than committing, and leading others to commit, mortal sin and more important than the theological truth of what is: you can get a bishop to "ordain" you, but he has no more authority to confer Christ's power of the priesthood by laying his hands on incorrect matter any more than he can use Coca Cola to validly baptize a baby (his open defiance of this earns him an excommunication, and her as well).

I agree with them that this is a matter of justice, though: there is no real justice without the Truth. It is a matter of simple justice that the faithful know if they are receiving Jesus or not.

The power of Christ to turn bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ is not in the lady. That wasn't a valid ordination. So she can say "this is my Body..." however many times she wants and it ain't gonna make it so. When she's done, that's still bread, that's still wine, and it ain't Jesus.

...something about not eating His flesh and drinking His blood meaning that one will not have eternal life, and something about vines and branches, and not remaining in Him meaning we can do nothing, and all that.

I wonder what the reaction would be if the Catholic Church were to put out a video holding the Episcopalian Church up to ridicule? Not that there'd be any point - with lesbian "bishops" they couldn't be more ridiculous if they tried.

And why not just join the Episcopal Church, or Lutheran Church? They could start a parish nearby, recruit everyone away then apply to Rome for reunification, QED. Why not just appoint a female bishop and have her issue any edict they like? Because they don't even believe what they are saying, they just want to hurt the Church.

Gene,

You're right. They want us to see them in a gender-neutral way, and yet they dance around like showgirls in this video, and apparently oblivious to the delicious irony.

Marc,

Are they really for celibacy? If they're willing to throw away an all-male priesthood, what else are they willing to throw away? If they are of the radical mindset that holds priestesses to be acceptable, is there really much chance they'll be traditional/orthodox in other regards? As for becoming Episcopalian, obviously these people either genuinely believe themselves to be Catholic or else want to destroy the Church from within. Probably depends on the particular woman as to which motivation controls.

WSquared,

My point in calling these women Montanists is largely because they believe their feelings (or what they state to be their "calling" do indeed trump what the hierarchy says. The Spirit speaks through them, they hold, and the Spirit trumps pope and bishops. In that sense they genuinely believe that they're more Catholic than the pope.

I would imagine that if they were thinking clearly, which they're not, they would see that this approach would likely negate the whole point of a priesthood in the long run. They want to be admitted to the estate that they claim lacks the valid authority to tell them that they cannot be barred from that estate. So, once you start down the road that the hierarchy is doing invalid things, where and how do you stop? Maybe all consecrations are invalid, in which case you should become Baptist or Pentecostal.

Someone said that the women's lib movement started so that ugly women could get attention. The ones in this video are further anecdotal evidence for the truth of that statement...
