I THINK THAT CATHOLIC STEWARDSHP PROPERLY UNDERSTOOD AND LIVED IS THE VISION OF PASTORAL MINISTRY POPE LEO HAS FOR THE CHURCH IN TERMS OF EVANGELIZATION AND PUTTING GOD’S WORD AND SACRAMENTS AT THE CENTER OF “BEING CHURCH”

Feeling nostalgic. I found this Stewarship video from 16 years ago, 2009 that we did when I was pastor of St. Joseph Church in Macon. We did a series of annual videos shown at all our Masses during our Stewardshp Renewal. I see many great people in this video some who have gone home to the Lord but were such an inspiration to me and others.

This was the description of the video done by volunteers and at no cost to the parish:

This is a video about discipleship through stewardship at St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish in Macon, Georgia. It has been the marvelous work of the church's Stewardship Council headed by Beckie Harwood in collaboration with Lovel Miguel who edited and authored the video. Thank you to all the pastoral leaders and parishioners in this video for sharing aspects of their stewardship.

Whatever happened to Fr Justin? He was pretty helpful to me during a difficult time after he moved to south Georgia and we had moved away from Macon.

He left the active ministry and married. I haven’t heard anything recently about how he is doing or if he was properly laicized with his marriage blessed in the Church. I enjoyed having him as a Parochial Vicar and as a newly ordained priest. I guess I didn’t do as good a job as I should have?

Father McDonald, I am sure you did a fine job. I knew a handsome young priest in a former parish who after 5 years left the priesthood to marry. Sadly, he was a very traditional priest who inspired many.

While I suspect you're being a bit tongue-in-cheek and don't need my encouragement, it's worth noting that your track record with other young priests who've been entrusted to your tutelage speaks for itself.

Thank you for this lovely walk down memory lane Dear Father! I was very surprised when I found out that Fr. Justin had left!! I was also surprised when Fr. May left - shortly after he was named Vocations Director( right Father?) and to continue to Celebrate our monthly TLM! He celebrated it so beautifully that it was particularly painful to have him “ take a leave of absence” after just 3 months! Unfortunately, he had also been asked to help out in a Parish where the Pastor had become very ill! So maybe he was just overwhelmed? Not only did the Diocese lose another Traditional Priest but our Parish lost our TLM! And it was not restored even after we got another Traditional Priest last July who had been celebrating it at his previous Parish! Such are the vagaries of our “Modern “ Church under TC! I don’t know what Fr. May is doing now but I still miss him and I am still praying for him that he is at peace with whatever he eventually decides/ decided to do!
Marc and TJM, as a previous Parishioner of Fr. Mc Donald’s I can confirm “in spades” that your impression that his Priesthood was rooted firmly in orthodox Catholicism and that his pastoral style richly reflected that as well his immense uncompromising devotion to shepherding his flock toward Heaven is absolutely correct! You would definitely have thrived spiritually under his care!
