READ CHRISTOPHER CARDINAL PIERRE’S FINAL TALK AS THE PAPAL NUNCIO TO THE USA TO THE USCCB MEETING: THE MOST DAMNABLE ASPECT OF HIS TALK IS THAT FOR THE MOST PART HE LEAVES OUT GOD, FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT; HE LEAVES OUT SOTERIOLOGY; HE LEAVES OUT THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS, IN PARTICULAR, THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY; HE LEAVES OUT A CHRISTO-CENTRIC APPROACH TO BEING CHURCH—IN OTHER WORDS, THE GREATEST MORTAL SIN OF THIS TALK IS THAT IT MAKES VATICAN II A gOD AND MAKES VATICAN II A SOCIOLOGICAL BLUEPRINT FOR THE CHURCH, NOT JESUS CHRIST! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

Press the title below for the PDF talk of Cardinal Pierre. It is very good, but with some glaring omissions. His talk leaves out God and makes Vatican II into a god. It makes Vatican II’s sociological underpinnings a false god! That is damnable! It’s more about organization and sociology and unity in the documents of Vatican II than it is about God and everlasting salvation and unity in God and His salvation!

First, he speaks about the continuity of all popes and Ecumenical Councils as the path forward, but also with an emphasis on the Documents of the Second Vatican Council. Reading between the lines, it appears to me that Cardinal Pierre is shifting his own theological perspective away from the innovative ways of Pope Francis to the more stable approach of Pope Leo. He points out correctly that Pope Leo is in continuity with much of what Pope Francis promoted but without all the drama, chaos and controversies.

Cardinal Pierre emphasizes the way forward must be in continuity with Pope Francis to overcome factionalism and tribalism in the Church, to overcome polarization. But he does not mention that much of the polarization and tribalism in the Church was stoked by Pope Francis and the manner in which he pursued discontinuity with Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI.

The greatest sin, APART FROM LEAVING OUT GOD, SOTERIOLOGY, A CHRISTO-CENTRIC EMPHASIS WHICH IS POPE LEO’S AS WELL AS THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS AND THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, by way of omission, is that Cardinal Pierre does not call for continuity in Pope Benedict’s vision for the Church, very much rooted in Vatican II, by interpreting Vatican II in the proper context: continuity with what preceded Vatican II.

And Cardinal Pierre sins by omission by not asking that we return to the liturgical vision of Pope Benedict XVI recognizing that by suppressing his liturgical magisterium, Pope Francis caused such anger and polarization and tribalism in the Church by doing so. The blame for this has to be laid at the tomb of Pope Francis. He caused it by rejecting Pope Benedict and even when this great pope was alive! There should be a penitential rite at the Vatican over that!

Below the title which links you to the entire talk are some screen shots of his written pdf speech that demand us to read between the lines:

The Church is still shedding members; there has been no New Spring. These clerics are delusional. Vatican II was a colossal flop. Trent was a wild success.

To paraphrase Pope Leo XIII, "'The world has heard enough of the so-called 'spirit of the Council.' Let it hear something of the importance of converting individually and societally to following God in the fullness of truth."

M. le Cardinal, like so many of his countrymen. is suspicious of the transcendental---and it shows.

His job is to relay Pope Leo’s priorities to the bishops conference, which

Christopher Cardinal Pierre has recognized Vatican II in line with Pope Leo XIV, as well as each Vatican II Era Pope.

That is, as God's monumental spiritual gift to His Church/Holy People.

As Cardinal Pierre had noted:

"Two days after his (Pope Leo XIV's) election, he told the Cardinals:

“I would like us to renew together today our complete commitment to the
path that the universal Church has now followed for decades in the wake of the Second Vatican Council.”

Cardinal Pierre continued: "He then said that “Pope Francis masterfully and
concretely” set forth this path in Evangelii Gaudium—several points of which he highlighted as fundamental to our ongoing ecclesial journey."

=======

Just two days into his Pontificate, Pope Leo XIV had emphasized Vatican II's monumental importance to the Church.

=======

At the end of his earthly life, Pope (Emeritus) Benedict XVI emphasized Vatican II's tremendous importance to Holy Mother Church. He had done so as well in February 2013 A.D., toward the end of his Pontificate.

Pope (Emeritus) Benedict XVI insisted that the Holy Ghost had, and would continue to renew the Church, via Vatican II.

=======

Christopher Cardinal Pierre, in line with our Vatican II Era Popes, has given the Council its proper due.

In light of the following, it is difficult to argue that Christopher Cardinal Pierre had overplayed the Council:

FIRST RADIOMESSAGE "URBI ET ORBI" ADDRESS OF HIS HOLINESS JOHN PAUL II

Sistine Chapel. Tuesday, 17 October 1978 :

"First of all, we wish to point out the unceasing importance of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, and we accept the definite duty of assiduously bringing it into affect.

"Indeed, is not that universal Council a kind of milestone as it were, an event of the utmost importance in the almost two thousand year history of the Church, and consequently in the religious and cultural history of the world?"

=======

Wow!

In light of the above from Pope Saint John Paul II, Cardinal Pierre's powerful promotion of Vatican II has rested upon a firm foundation.

Returning to express a nagging thought: Cardinal Pierre speaks of the "grace of Vatican II"--huh? The grace of a council? He couldn't once spoken of the grace of, I dunno, God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ?

I'm not of the sort to claim VCII was a breach of the Church's continuity or created a new "conciliar" "anti-Church" but this sort of overblown rhetoric gives more ammunition to that claim than it deserves...

Sophia here! your concerns are dead on Father! Here is a similar, equally accurate but much more forceful take on the Nuncio’s speech!
