As I was driving back from Saint Gregory the Great Church in Bluffton to Hilton Head Island, where I live, after having celebrated the 9 AM Mass for the Feast of the Dedication of the Basilica of Saint John the Lateran, I was listening to Sirius/XM Radio’s 60’s Gold, my favorite station. They were playing the top 50 hits from this week in November, 1965! I live 20 miles from Saint Gregory’s, so I only heard a part of the count down from #50 to #1.
But I did get to listen to “Rusty Bells” #36 that week in 1965, by Brenda Lee, who grew up in Augusta, GA where I grew up.
And I got to listen to #30 that week, the Chapel in the Moonlight!
How appropriate both of these were so popular during this week in 1965, during the time for the Feast of the Basilica of Saint John Lateran! No?

Truth alert...this is a scene from 1969 A.D. Then Came Bronson. Incredible, beautiful scenery along the California coast. God's creation is beyond comprehension. The background song is a 19th Century spiritual.
Begin at the 1:00 mark.

An interesting rendition by Peter, Paul, & Mary. 1965 A.D. The Jack Benny Program.

The 3:00 mark.
At the 9:00 mark...a funny exchange between Jack Benny and Peter, Paul, & Mary. That type of great comedy/entertainment is long gone in America.
Pax.
