BOMBSHELL THAT THIS CLAIRVOYANT PREDICTED ONLY A FEW DAYS AGO! YET AGAIN! POPE FRANCIS CELEBRATES MASS AAAH! ORIENTEM: IF THIS HAD BEEN THE ACTUAL REFORM OF THE MASS AFTER VATICAN II AS POPE FRANCIS CELEBRATES MASS THIS MORNING, WE WOULD NOT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE DECONSTRUCTION OF THE MASS AND ITS PLACES OF WORSHIP THAT WE HAVE!

This is what the Mass of Vatican II should look like in every parish! Listen the the Gregorian Chant for the official Introit as well as the Offertory and Communion antiphons.

BISHOPS SHOULD MAKE WATCHING THIS MASS A WORKSHOP FOR PRIESTS AS TO HOW TO CELEBRATE THE ORDINARY FORM OF THE MASS IN CONTINUITY WITH THE EXTRAORDINARY FORM AND ALL PRIESTS SHOULD KNOW HOW TO CELEBRATE BOTH FORMS OF OUR ONE LATIN RITE SO THAT THE OLDER, TRADITIONAL ORDER OF THE MASS INFORMS THEM ABOUT THE NEW ORDER OF THE MASS!

Please note too that after the initial baptismal ceremony as a part of the Introductory Rite of the Mass, the Kyrie in its freestanding form is NOT OMITTED! It should never be omitted. It is integral to all Masses even if the Penitential Act is omitted for some other ceremony. Today we are using the OF's Rite of Blessing and Sprinkling Holy Water for the Solemnity of the Baptism of the Lord. After the Sprinkling and its unique absolution, the Kyrie will be chanted in our parish! How about yours?

If the Mass in parishes throughout the world had celebrated the 1970 Missal in this way and never ever touched the altars of churches and reoriented them, thus destroying Catholic sanctuaries and making them into something else, we may well have had a new springtime in the Church!

Look at the beautiful but modern vestments that fit very well in Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. Watch how Holy Baptism of Infants can take place properly within the context of the Mass. See how the pope ignores the noises from the congregation.

This Mass in the Sistine Chapel is as close to a regular parish Mass as it gets in the Vatican and in fact is a model for all parishes throughout the world.  It is possible for all parishes to celebrate Mass in this fashion. Why isn't? I ask again, why isn't it? What is the problem with this way of celebrating the Mass? Do the majority of bishops and priests, not to mention laity, think celebrating Mass this way is too pre-Vatican II? I fear so!

How do we sqare the with the syncetic, "Pope Video," or is this the problem with Modernism, anything goes and it's all good.

Father McDonald,

It is a little confusing. In Appendix II of the Roman Missal, the "Rite of Blessing and Sprinkling of Water" says that after the asperges, the priest says the "May almighty God cleanse us...", and the very next rubric says to begin the Gloria. It seems to indicate that the Kyrie is omitted.

This ceremony is always a highlight for me, and it's nice to see Pope Francis in the role of a parish priest, gently correcting the parents when they forgot to make the sign of the cross on the baby's forehead, and doing his best to make the multiple baptisms not resemble a production line!

I was troubled by the Pope's prayer intention video too, especially by the final image. Here's a link in case anyone missed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6FfTxwTX34

The problem for me isn't the prayer intention itself, but the kitschy production values of the video. It's corny and shallow, like most Italian TV advertising (all the cliches apart from a scantily clothed girl draped over a fast car), and it's worrying that no one in the Vatican seems to have had any qualms about it. Someone needs to remind them that they're not selling soap powder.

Yes, JBS, this is a terrible mistake in the Missal that the Vatican itself has rectified, Pope Benedict or Msgr. Marini having done so and Pope Francis having maintained. Technically the Kyrie IS NOT A PART OF THE PENITENTIAL ACT (in the OF as in the EF). We've lost this by the mistake in the missal. I do wish the Vatican would rectify it and bring the missal into line with their practice.

Also, I did not find the Pope himself or his words to be problematic, but yes the video images were problematic, and yes, chessey Italian and I can say that, and ill advised. I think just videoing the pope and showing him is fine but the image of a "baby Jesus" as the symbol of Catholicism or Christianity juxtaposed against the other world religions' symbols is a bit too much and I fault the video producers and the Vatican Communication's office for it. I suspect too it is FOX's former reporter who might have a hand in this and from his television/entertainment perspective.

Hey Faaaaather, Pope Francis is coming out with another interview where he completely trashes, I mean he makes prudential judgments, Catholics who believe in the Catholic Faith. He says even likes to see them "slip" every once and a while. You will love it.

Just read the Telegraph British Newspaper and he we go! Bergoglio has a new book coming out and states the Church MUST accept divorcees and Homosexuals and attacks priests and clericalism and ending the centuries old stern and judgmental Roman Catholic Church. How much longer is the Holy Ghost going to put up with this heresy????????????????????

Until Rome recovers the Holy Faith it lost during the Second Vatican Council and the return of the Traditional Latin Mass and sacraments.

GIRM 51 and 52 are unambiguous (and 51 references Appendix II of the Roman Missal). The Asperges may replace the Penitential Act, but 'after the Penitential Act the Kyrie is always begun, unless it has already been included as part of the Penitential Act'. It is omitted at the Easter Vigil and would appear to be optional on Palm Sunday if there is a Procession or Solemn Entrance.

Where the Novus Ordo offers options, it is a good idea to choose those which conform most closely to the tradition of the Roman Rite. The Kyrie has been sung at this point in the West since the fifth century; it is part of the musical structure of the Mass; and it gives us a link to our Eastern brethren.

Unfortunately one still encounters priests who seem bent on making the Novus Ordo as different as possible from the traditional Roman Rite. I don't have too many problems with Pope Francis's liturgical style and the Sistine Chapel Mass could certainly be replicated in parishes, Missa de Angelis and all. Apart from the lengthy ad-lib before the Pater Noster ...

The intro to the Our Father is from the OF Baptism Ritual and anticipates the child's Confirmation and Holy Communion.

'The intro to the Our Father is from the OF Baptismal Ritual ...' (Sigh). Not content with inserting Baptism into the Mass between Gospel and Offertory, an innovation which incidentally alienated the Eastern Church still further, Bugnini saw fit to let the ritual alter the Ordinary. But then, oecumenism was not high on Annibale's agenda compared with rapprochement with Protestants.

The last Anglican baptism I attended copied the lamentable neo-Roman practice. The Ordinariate, far from incorporating Anglican practice, is distancing itself from it.

Anonymous,

Just which articles of faith did the Church lose during VCII? The older rite of Mass is still with us, so how can you speak of its return?
