Let’s face it, with Pope Francis’ papacy, especially after the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI on December 31, 2022, a great pall had been thrown upon Catholics who embraced Pope Benedicts exciting papacy.
But even before Benedict’s death, and without the courtesy of informing him first about it, Pope Francis issued his cruel and completely unnecessary TC. We know that this wounded Pope Benedict as SP was one of the centerpieces of his papacy to bring about inner healing in the Church. With TC, Pope Francis reopened old wounds and more pain that were well on the way to healing.
But now with Pope Leo XIV, I sense that faithful, orthodox traditional Catholics, are recovering the excitement that Pope Benedict engendered in them.
Am I wrong?
I don’t think so and if there is any adjustment or refining of TC but within the context of a refinement of SP, where there will be more freedom to celebrate the TLM and the other sacraments traditionally, there will be great jubilation as there was in St. Peter’s Square with the election of Pope Leo XIV when he came forward to the loggia of St. Peter’s in full papal regalia!
While I dislike some of the heterodoxy of Lifesite News, especially the comments of schismatic Catholics on it and lifting up clearly deranged so-called traditional Catholics, like Archbishop Vigano, I like this commentary which illustrates what I just wrote. Press title:

100%!
I've felt in a way that I haven't since Benedict XVI. During his papacy, and knowing many priests and seminarians, there was a buzz, an excitement, enthusiasm, and just looking forward to whatever emanated from Rome. I, too, mostly walked around with a smile. It was a period I look back upon with fondness - everyone just seemed happy and on fire about things.
I hope Leo finds a way to end the to be liberal you must embrace "x" / if orthodox, you MUST BE "y". It's exhausting, counterproductive and, to me, totally wrong-headed. Our faith does NOT have to be a compromise. Orthodoxy and liberalism are, to me, Christ's mandate, the Christianity we are called to live.
I hope this feeling is long-lived, not an emotion-driven reaction to something new. Simply stated, my gut-sense is that feeling is back - and WE, not just some, can now roll up our sleeves and get to work!
Everyone in Catholic internet land is taking the fact he dresses nice, and had a comment made by brother regarding the Latin Mass, and spooling up into a frenzy of restorationism, and they all need a tranquilizer.
The LifeSite Article was interesting but ended on an odd note with the desire for Pope Leo to unsever Bishop Strickland’s head. It would be a positive sign of reconciliation to give Strickland a post where he can influence the faithful. But he seems to have found that already.
I am glad that Pope Leo has the humiliaty to accept the traditional robes of office and that the sloppy look is gone
