PUSH THE TITLE FOR THE SILERE NON POSSUM’S ARTICLE IN ENGISH:
Vatican City – On May 19, 2025, the Holy See Press Office announced the appointment—made by Pope Leo XIV—of the new Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences: Cardinal Baldassare Reina, Vicar General of His Holiness for the Diocese of Rome and Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Lateran University.
This is a significant development, marking a return to an established practice that aligns with the Institute’s identity—namely, that the Grand Chancellor is also the Pope’s Vicar for the Diocese of Rome, a role that already includes serving as Grand Chancellor of the Lateran University, where the Institute was originally founded.

In regard to Cardinal Reina, Catholic Sat has reported:
"One of the battles from the last Pontificate that few talk about was Pope Francis’ efforts to remove homosexuals from Italian seminaries, which he viewed as a major problem but one where he received significant push back from a block in the Italian Bishops Conference.
"In the Conference, Reina sided with the Pope."

-- Cardinal Calls for Continuation of Pope Francis’ Reform Path
"The Italian cardinal, who will vote in the conclave scheduled to begin May 7, said that true fidelity requires continuing the path set by Pope Francis rather than retreating from it."

I am confident that His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, has made an excellent decision in regard to Cardinal Reina.

— Pope Leo XIV: From yesterday's Regina Caeli:
"During Mass, I strongly felt the spiritual presence of Pope Francis accompanying us from heaven."
Yes and all sainted popes, JOII and Leo Xiii not yet canonized but wait.
Reina has not been noted for firm statements on much, but has definitely talked of the sanctity of life, praised the Italian mother who brought to term twin(?) non-viable babies so they could be baptised bedore dying and who later carried to term a third child even while dying of cancer, and just of late has been accused by a (gay)seminarian of being forced to undergo conversion therapy. Past those items, not much seems to be known, but, that will change.
And so it begins….excellent
I hope Roche and Fernandez are next, in either order.
By not much known, I mean as for widely known on hot-button issues.....he is known primarily for rectorships, diocese guidance, work with the poor, and, same as Prevost, a meteoric rise from nowhere under Francis.
Father McDonald,
I am sure that careerist Roche will all of a sudden be in favor of tradition and the TLM!!!
Fr. AJM,
So hard to pick who(m?) I'd rather see replaced first.

If you guys want to treat yourselves, go to Youtube, where you can watch Otto Preminger's "The Cardinal" for free. It was released in 1963 before the loonies ruined our great, Universal Church.
Regarding Cardinal Reina: From above, "The Italian cardinal, who will vote in the conclave scheduled to begin May 7, said that true fidelity requires continuing the path set by Pope Francis rather than retreating from it."
So, were the actions of Francis in reversing the path established by Pope Benedict (while he was still alive) in several areas a sign of "true fidelity?"
Good question, but he seems fit for the position that Pope Leo has given him: https://collegeofcardinalsreport.com/cardinals/cardinal-baldassare-reina/
In an interview with The Pillar during the 2024 consistory, Reina said that the antidote to secularization was “a new evangelization, as John Paul II already called for more than two decades ago now.”
Asked if the Church should adapt its teaching to the times, Reina said “the Church always listens to what man lives today. Yet, the moral teachings have a solid foundation: the teachings of Holy Scripture and what God has always revealed.”
“So, the Church does not need to adapt to the times but must act in such a way that the times adapt to the logic of the Gospel,” he added.
