THE GLORY OF A COOL OCEAN DIP ON A HOT SUMMER DAY????
Going into the ocean is so cool and refreshing on a hot, humid, sultry Hilton Head Island summer scorcher afternoon. NOT! It is like taking a hot going to Sunday church bath on a Saturday night!

FRMJK yes indeed as I thought the same and yes MT I am a good swimmer. Just saw a brown shark jump with his dorsal fin completely out of the water. My swimming was lightening fast getting out!

Speaking of Fathers who were good swimmers:
When I was a boy, at my parish, we had a Father who was a good swimmer.
My dad.
Dad was a father, and was at my parish. :-)
When you mentioned the shark, I had thought about the times when lifeguards had spotted shark fins in the water (as opposed to on the land :-) ) My dad, along with each swimmer, would bolt in record time from the water.
Several years prior to the movie JAWS, I had decided that I would enter the ocean only ankle deep.
In New England they are excited when the water reaches 65 F. Lake Champlain would average 42F in summer. Frozen 3 feet thick in winter. You boys have it good.
rcg - I once visited classmates in New Hampshire during summer. We walked on a little beach and I took off my shoes just to wade. MISTAKE! It was like ice water to me! But there were people swimming all over.

Not too bad. At Key West today the ocean temp is 91.2F / 32.9C.
These temps are not good news for hurricane season...

FrMJK, my mentor used to say it was like bathwater. I thought he was teasing me, but eventually concluded that he was serious. Enjoy Key West.
