NOVEMBER 2, 2015 FAURE REQUIEM FOR THE COMMEMORATION OF ALL SOULS: THIS VIDEO DEDICATED TO THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED OF THE PARIS TERROR EVENT AND ALL WHO HAVE DIED AT THE HANDS OF TERRORISTS

I thank Lovel Miguel who digitized this video for us. Unfortuately due to a technical glitch, the first 17 minutes of the video did not have sound!!!! Yes, you read that correctly, no sound for the first 17 minutes of the video. So Lovel in this technical brilliance spliced Faure's Introit from our last year's Faure's Requiem into this years.

Unfortunately, the subdeacon chanting the First Lesson is not heard as the splice from last year goes immediately from the Introit to the cantor's chanting of the Gradual! We were not able to dub the chanting of the first lesson. Last year's Dies Irae continues following the Gradual although I think somewhere along the way the Dies Irae picks up with this year's. The chanting of the Gospel by the deacon  is actually this year's plus all that follows.

Great job Father!! Thank you again for offering the TLM it means alot to many of us here that read your blog and love the Mass of Pius V!! You are doing more good than you may realize i.e. saving many souls with this Holy Mass, and your fine offering of the Novus Ordo as well!!

The advantage of having an MC was apparent; he got the deacon and subdeacon to line up properly, and although there were one or two errors (the most obvious being that in a Solemn Requiem the subdeacon and not the thurifer does the incensing at the elevations) they can be overlooked.

One point regarding the Absolutions at the catafalque. Since we are referring to all the faithful departed, we need to use the plural. So the choir's response to 'A porta inferi' is 'Erue Domine animas eorum', not 'animam ejus'. The Collect which follows has to be for the faithful departed; it makes no sense to pray 'te supplices exoramus pro anima famuli tui quam hodie de hoc saeculo migrare jussisti ...' (we humbly beseech thee on behalf of the soul of thy servant, which thou hast this day called out of this world ...). This prayer is only used when the body is present.

Other than that, it went very well.

Was it the Summer of 42?

That movie is probably not appropriate for a pure, celibate fellow like you. Could be an occasion of sin.

I saw it with my girl friend the summer of 72!
