I've watched MSNBC lately to see what they're saying. Wow are a great source for the view from the Left. They are really spinning this as about Birth Control and rarely do they mention sterilization and ella. The second point they keep harping on is that this is a Right wing political issue. which of course it is not Left or Right, its Catholic. Third that its because the economy is doing better the Republicans need something as a political weapon and this as social issue fits the bill. This doesn't fit the timeline at all and they would know this if they were honest. After the "accommodation" they talk about what a "brilliant" move by the President to take it out of the Political conversation and how it solved the problem. They justify their victory because Sister Carol Keehan was happy, as if she was the voice to appeased. They seem to think this is over but it has only just begun.
I am very concerned and disturbed by this editorial! Wonder what the left would say if the Catholic Church were a homosexual-led organization? "They have the right not to cover birth control because doing so violates their rights!!!" Total double standard in this country with those protecting and standing by Christ's teachings getting screwed over.
I think you must be confused with a NYT of a different era. The current NYT has suffered its own "V2 springtime" and its subscriptions are in a free fall as is its balance sheet. The only folks lending dredence to the NYT are full fledged fanatic freaks in Obama's camp.
Interesting that so strongly worded editorial is also anonymous... I'm just saying.
All of the totalitarian regimes of which I am aware have been left-wing. The "freedom to choose" to which liberals cling so tenaciously seems always to involve choosing death: birth control, abortion, euthanasia.
In our society, liberals are lemmings, while people of faith and principle are made the lepers in society.
I am the youngest son of a Canadian father and Italian mother. My father was from Judique, Cape Breton and my mother is from Livorno, Italy. After my father became a naturalized citizen of the USA he was drafted into the army and sent overseas for World War II. After the war, he married his war bride, Isolina Clara Sainati of Livorno, Italia on December 1, 1945. I was born in Napoli, Italia on December 21, 1953. We moved to Georgia when I was 3 years old. We lived in Atlanta from 1957 to 1960 and in Augusta. My mom is still in Augusta. I went to St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore. I was ordained a priest on June 7, 1980. I have served in St. Teresa Church, Albany (1980-85), Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah (1985-91). I was pastor of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Augusta from June of 1991 to July of 2004. I am currently pastor of St. Joseph Church, Macon since 2004. I was the vocation director for the diocese from 1986 to 1998 and Diocesan Master of Ceremonies and Director of Liturgy from 1985 through 1991. I was vicar forane of the Augusta deanery from 1991 to 2000.

A taste of things to come. I fear that we will soon face active persecution for our beliefs.
