This Vatican historical summary is great and reminded me of things I had forgotten or did not know:
Lefebvre's schism repeated 38 years later
The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X once again separates itself from Rome through illicit episcopal consecrations carried out against the Pope's will, despite the generous efforts of Pope Saints Paul VI and John Paul II, the decision by Pope Benedict XVI to lift the excommunication, and the faculties granted by Pope Francis.
By Andrea Tornielli
It is a troubled history, marked by generous attempts, doors kept open, and opportunities offered. It is a painful story, characterized by two grave ruptures that led the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, to separate itself from the Pope and from communion with the Church of Rome by committing the schismatic act of consecrating bishops without the pontifical mandate and against the will of the Vicar of Christ.

Perhaps, now that they are in schism the Pope will actually talk with them and say nice things about them as he does with the Orthodox and and Anglicans.
Here are a few examples to indicate the extent to which the SSPX has allowed Satan to cloud the Society's collective mind:
During yesterday's rite of episcopal consecration, Father Foucauld Le Roux, Secretary General, read the declaration that the SSPX employed to justify the episcopal consecrations in question:
https://fsspx.news/en/news/habetis-mandatum-apostolicum-declaration-read-episcopal-consecrations-59936
Excerpt:
"From the Second Vatican Council up to the present day, the authorities in the Church have been animated by a spirit that is contrary to that of the Faith, and have been acting against holy Tradition – “they will no longer endure sound doctrine, turning away their hearing from the truth, and turning towards fables,” as St. Paul says to Timothy in his second epistle (4:3-5).
"Therefore, before God, we consider it a sacred duty towards Holy Church and towards souls to proceed with the consecration of bishops who are entirely faithful to her holy Tradition and to her constant Magisterium."
******* The above has made clear the SSPX's claim that it is via the Society, rather than beginning with Pope Leo XIV, that we must turn to receive the faithful rendering of the Church's "holy Tradition" and "constant Magisterium."

Father Davide Pagliarani, SSPX Superior General, has made clear the Society's view that Pope Leo XIV is guiding the Church down the path of ruination.
Father Pagliarani:
"With the legacy left to us by Pope Francis, the fundamental reasons that justified the consecrations of 1988 still exist and, in many respects, impel us with renewed urgency.
"The Second Vatican Council remains more than ever the compass guiding today’s churchmen, and they are unlikely to change course in the near future.
"Furthermore, the major orientations already taking shape in this new pontificate — particularly through the most recent (January 2026 A.D.) consistory — only confirm this.
"An explicit determination to preserve the line of Pope Francis as an irreversible trajectory for the entire Church is discernible."
=======
Father Pagliarani:
In an ordinary parish, the faithful no longer find the necessary means to ensure their eternal salvation."
Pax.

Well here is a clue why SSPX exists. If the Pope does not discipline this cardinal I will cut back my significant contributions. A cardinal gave a homily for a same sex couples Mass in London:

I can't wait for the excuse machine here to start! The priest, bishops, and cardinal involved are schismatics and should be excommunicated if Leo has any intellectual integrity!
No pope is going to have a knee jerk or compulsive reaction to every dumb thing a bishop does or a bishop who is a cardinal does. We know about the public communications popes have had with Lefebrve and the FSSPX that led up to the first excommunication and now the second. Clearly there was a direct and explicit disobedience to the pope about illicit ordinations, valid, but illicit and they disobeyed the pope.
What you describe is dumb and pushing the envelope, but it is stated that there is a blessing of friendship not their sexual union and we don’t know if they have one or are living as brothers. Voyeurism on the part of you or others may presume that and wonder what it is like and what they do, but that is really sexual fantasy.
Also, we don’t know if Pope Leo had any confidential communication with the cardinal after the fact.
What Rorate Caeli describes is scandalous to have taken place in a planned liturgy and hopefully Pope Leo will in general clarify that the Mass should not be instrumentalize to push an agenda, which this appears to be doing.
To compare this to the FSSPX rebellion is mixing apples and oranges.
To a layman, it is far more scandalous and shocking than the consecrations. The Vatican is dead wrong and their pious musings about “unity” laughable.
To most faithful Catholics blatant disobedience to the pope with a warning about excommunication if they do what he is not allowing is scandalous and more so than a a blessing offered to two friends. Mixing apples and oranges.
Now if Cardinal Radcliffe, who is not a bishop, btw, had ordained those two as deacons, he would be excommunicated automatically.
