MONEY BYTE:

“I have no fear of the Trump administration or speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do, what the church is here to do,” the pope told reporters on his brief flight to Algiers April 13.

“We are not politicians, we don’t deal with foreign (leaders?)with the same perspective he might understand it, but I do believe in the message of the Gospel, as a peacemaker,” he said.

Leo said he did not want to enter into debate and clarified that the statements he makes condemning war and the violation of international law “are certainly not meant as attacks on anyone,” but he said he will also “not shy away from pronouncing the message of the Gospel.”

Well, Santita, here is what one of your flock has to say about you (and this is not coming from me):

I am catholic and I must say, it almost sickens me with the last two popes (Francis and Leo). Here we have savages killing over 32,000 people because they want freedom in Iran. Iran a country the funds and supports terrorism throughout the world. I am proud of President Trump with the steps he is taking to DESTROY Iran. This pope is very much like the last one. Pope Leo should be asking the leaders to help the christians in Nigeria. These poor souls are being viciously killed by muslims because they believe in God.

Here's a little advice for you Pope Leo, stay out of politics. You want to help the christians of this world, start by saving them from being murdered by muslims.

TJM, thanks for posting this quote because it shows how coloring book Catholics understand the papacy and the Church. These kinds of Catholics seem to be on the side of Ponticus Pilate and the Roman Emperor in their concerns about Christ the King, very sad to read this comment!

Father McDonald,

They are not "coloring book Catholics" but honest people that simply cannot believe the insane positions on the Vatican in situations like this. Maybe President Trump should have allowed the Iranians to obtain a nuclear bomb. Maybe they would have lobbed it at the Vatican at the "pearl clutchers" there. St. John Paul would be on the opposite side of where Leo now places himself. St. John Paul II was instrumental in bringing down Communism. He called out evil by its true name. It looks like Francis and Leo would have done nothing to stop it just like their cowardly approach to radical Islam. Remember, Pope Julius II led his own troops into battle. Onward Christian soldiers!

Here's a little advice for you, Pope Leo: "Preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and don't be sidetracked - not that you would be - by the likes of TJM and those who think that the Gospel does not have direct, day-to-day influence on our politics."

TJM, the pope is enunciating the moral teaches of the Church. I don’t expect Trump or any politician of any party, especially not Catholic, to agree and there is a respectful way to disagree. But you are dead wrong. Trump is as anti life as Biden. Biden is Catholic and held to a higher expectation. Trump is a bully. For you as a Catholic to condone his tweet is coloring book Catholicism and thus absurd!

Jesus Christ speaks through Pope Leo XIV.

In regard to President Trump's vile, lie-packed, verbal attack against Pope Leo XIV:

Hmmm...I wonder as to the name...oh, what's its name again?...of the being who had spoken through President Trump?

=======

May President Trump reject his support for the Culture of Death. May he embrace Pope Leo XVI's Culture of Life teachings.

Today Mr. Trump crossed a line. An apology from him is now overdue.

I think the Pope owes the world an apology for supporting a terrorist regime in Iran by attacking the person who is giving Iranians hope and caving to radical Islam in Africa and elsewhere. I cannot imagine Pius XII acting the way Pope Leo has.

TJM! For the sake of your eternal life repent of your MAGA Trump idolatry and your anti Catholic rhetoric that denigrates the Supreme Pontiff. And what you dare put into writing is filled with half truths and lies. Trump must apologize! So should you. Is what you wrote MAGA talking points?

Fr. David Evans said...

A picture of the ‘divine’ Trump healing the sick/raising the dead in the presence of adoring acolytes is at the least offensive if not blasphemous. It is difficult to understand any attempt at a defence- but particularly, from any who might claim the description Christian

The Pope should be FAR more concerned about this:

Pelosi should be excommunicated tres vite!

You really are unbelievable. You claim that “St. John Paul would be on the opposite side of where Leo now places himself.” Have you forgotten his strong condemnation of the Iraq War in 2003? Here is a refresher for you:

https://www.ncregister.com/commentaries/as-john-paul-ii-taught-us-opposition-to-war-is-a-pro-life-principle

Saddam Hussein also led a despicable regime. And yet you have expressed the view many times that Trump started no new hot wars such as the one in Iraq, thereby indicating that you thought it was a bad idea to have done so—despite Saddam’s evil actions! Can you explain not only why you have misrepresented the views of Pope St. John Paul II but also why, given your apparent view regarding the Iraq War, your support of the Iran War is not just inconsistent but hypocritical? Failing such explanation, it is hard to avoid the conclusion that it is because you will say whatever is expedient to support anything and everything that Trump does, as befits a diehard, faithful MAGA operative.

Not lost in translation, originating in Italian:
Statement by Cardinal Vicar Baldo Reina: «Solidarity to Pope Leo XIV»

Collecting the sentiments of the people of God present in the Diocese of Rome, I echo myself in expressing solidarity and confirming full support to our Bishop, Pope Leo XIV, in the face of baffling attacks on His Magister of Peace. The Gospel of the Beatitudes is the substance of the Church’s mission, and nobody and nothing, hallucinated by the delusional reverberation of arrogance, will be able to hinder this announcement.
