It’s interesting that those who once clamored for the return of the tiara for the pope to put political powers in their place are no longer doing so! I hope God has a sense of humor….

This post reminds me of when Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria (the original "pope") wore the triple mitre during a Divine Liturgy in the presence of Leo last year. I think I read that His Beatitude's remarks to Leo included referring to himself (rightly) as the Successor of St. Peter. Hilarious!
I have read that republican political talking point and it being espoused on Fox News. You are easily duped to forsake defending the pope for petty, and that one is as old as the hills, in favor of your idol politics.

Probably so. Usually, the pope of Alexandria has a mitre of similar shape, but without the triple-styling. I imagine the stye of the various headgear has changed a lot over the centuries -- you may know more about that than I do.
The idea of the triple tiara for the bishop of Rome is just so absurd that I like to imagine (probably without a basis in reality) that the Patriarch Theodoros was trolling Leo with that mitre. More likely, someone gifted it to him, so he wore it.
I just realized that I posted my comments in the wrong story--as THIS story seems to be about that stupid picture of Trump as Jesus. I'm not offended by that either. It's just a symptom of the insane state of public discourse we've devolved into. It's going to get worse.
