I like Father Z, he has suffered much and used this suffering to help those of us who look for some hope there is sanity somewhere in the Church. Now that I know about you, Father, I like you as well. I hope you two can get along. I agree he was a bit harsh on Father Carter, but it is for some to try to work within the Church and for others to sacrifice their standing in the Church for the greater good, as has been done by many unknown priests who kept the TLM alive during the period from 1964 to the publication of Summorum Pontificum.
Both Father Z and Father McDonald are fine priests. I tend to agree with Father Z that Father Carter was gaslighting the congregation, but perhaps Carter's thinking it is better to survive and be around when inevitably the ultra vires, cruel and evil Motu Proprio, Traditiones Custodes, is tossed on the ashbin of history. Father Carter can continue to quietly work to preserve what he can until better days arrive.
