You can read the actual communique here!
YOU CAN READ THE NATIONAL CATHOLIC REPORTER'S TAKE ON IT HERE! BE NICE IN COMMENTING, THAT IS, BE CATHOLIC, BE CHARITABLE.
Is this not actual pain and scandal to the Catholic Faithful around the world? Is it indicative of moral schism? Just wondering!

Fr., I fear that, by posting such with the admonition to be nice, you are tempting a brother to fall...can I go ahead and be ugly and then come to see you for Confession?
Oh yes, go to confession after such a post that I've read and deleted! :)
*blush*
Freedom Now!
We're tired of having no voice,
So we call ourselves nuns for pro-choice,
Dogmatic distortion,
Or full term abortion,
Or a wedding for William and Royce.
This is the only question that matters, the one that the Fishwrap and LCWR can't--nay, wont--answer:
Why are young women not joining the liberal and heresy-endorsing religious congregations?
=D
Interesting that they say it's the actions of the Vatican and not their own actions that has caused "scandal and pain throughout the Church." I would actually agree, but not as to these particular actions. Here's what I mean.
When I look at the woman wearing the "nuns for Choice" T-shirt, something becomes very clear to me (plagiarizing from Marc, here): I am not in communion with this woman or her ilk, yet we both call ourselves Catholic (or at least I assume we do). The same is true of my relationship (or lack thereof) to many modernists within the Church--I imagine that the number runs to the millions, if not more.
This raises an extraordinarily grave and frightening problem. If the hierarchy does not correct this state of affairs--if by its years of silence it tacitly accepts that both this woman and I are Catholic--it can only mean that Catholicism has become a nominal religion of no substantive content, or so little substantive content as to give it no distinction from any Protestant or even non-Christian sect. In that case, it is an apostate church, from the pope on down.
This action on the LWCR is really a drop in the bucket.
Because they've learned to use make-up, dress nicely, and are well-groomed?
Gene,
You don't honestly think the females pictured are dressed nicely, do you?
No, Carol...I was answering ytc's question as to why young women are not entering these apostate orders...Anon 5's post came in between. So, why are not young women entering these heresy endorsing religious congregations? Because they've learned to use make-up, dress nicely, and are well-groomed. It was sarcasm. (Fr. would not post my dog show comment.)
Gene,
That's too bad, I would have liked to have read it- but given the subject matter I have a pretty good guess! ;D
I wonder what St. Bernadette, St. Teresa Avila, St. Margaret Mary, St. Rita, and all the wonderful nuns who became saints think of the LCWR.
Most of these sisters joined their respective communities when common life, common prayer and a common apostolate were the norm. They must have liked the way their communities were then, because they joined that way. What the devil happened?
@Gene
I can only surmise that Father is a dog-lover. The only thing about BXVI that worries me is that he prefers cats.
I just don't understand the thinking of these liberal so-called Catholics, like the "nun" in the pro-abortion shirt. They and their ilk support the "freedom" to have an abortion, and support the "freedom" to live a homosexual lifestyle. But (most) draw the line at supporting pornography (and probably masturbation, too). That is the line they will not cross, the "evil" they cannot support.
Wait a minute. I may be insane, but there is no way... no way... the percieved, and usually temporary and reversable, loss of dignity to the human person caused by pornography is more evil than the violent butchering and killing of a baby. Yet these "nuns" and others like them dance for joy to support abortion, but call porn "evil"???
I want one of these "nuns" to post here and convince me why that is. Open challenge. Come on, any of you sisters out there. Convince me. Why is supporting abortion a-ok, but porn is evil?
I would think anyone connected to porn would make it to Heaven before anyone who even marginally supports or approves of abortion, the dismemberment of a baby. But maybe one of you sisters can enlighten me.
Kay, I have a Freudian take on that. These delightful ladies (who are full of primitive shame and guilt) believe that sex is dirty and nasty, so touching oneself or watching porn is dirty and nasty and, therefore, highly forbidden. Foetuses, being products of the dirty, nasty sex act, must be eliminated in the subconscious effort to eliminate the primitive shame and guilt. It is a pity they do not teach Freud anymore. Agnostic that he was, he gives us great insight into the power and bondage of original sin.
In another light, the irony of the so-called women's liberation movement is that it has degraded and lowered women to a level never imagined by the bra-burning morons of the sixties. So-called sexual liberation has only served to objectify women and degrade them in movies, literature, popular culture, and porn. It is a short step from this degradation of women to the popular support of widespread abortion on demand. All of this...porn, illicit sex, self-stimulatory behavior, homosexuality, adultery, divorce, abortion is all a part of the anti-life forces that are abroad in our culture that include crime, pollution, financial mismanagement at high levels, child abuse...all of it. It is the self-destructive behavior of a godless and dying society...and people don't want to kneel to receive or face the coming Christ with the Priest in the TLM. And, yes Ignotus and your ilk, it has everything to do with anything. Repent and believe the Gospel!
Gene W., but if these "nuns" think sex is dirty and nasty, why do they support the gay lifestyle and gay marriage? Maybe they only think natural male-female sex is dirty and nasty? But same-sex sex, where there can be no reproduction, no consequences, is cool? The more I think about it, the more I think these chicks are at heart nothing more than perverts. These are probably the same "nuns" that have all the lesbian experiences rumored about in urban legend.
Anyways, sisters, I'm still waiting. Don't any of you want to defend your position? Can you defend it?
Kay, I think both their need to be "open" and PC and their need for an antagonist trump the "sex is dirty" factor. However, as with all liberals, their inconsistencies do not concern them.
Having read the entries on this site and the LWCR response to the Vatican, I feel that it might be more useful for us to spend time in prayer for a constructive dialogue between the LWCR and the Vatican that respects all parties as children of God. Prayer and dialogue are more important than our opinions. God loves us all however misguided some of us may be.
I absolutely LOVE this! Masterfully written.Hierarchy Structure
