I was diheartened to see on Ash Wednesday that we could have 2 Priests available at Mass for the distribution of Sacramental Ashes, but when it came time for Communion only one Priest was used for Distribution of "THE" Sacrament. I could not help but feel the fingers of the EMHCs Union in this.
Temp correct me, but I didn't know the ashes were a sacrament as much as a devotion. It is blessed, as it the Holy Water in the font, and could be essentially done to yourself.
Sacramentals: medals, holy water, ashes, palms...things blessed for a devotion.
This is precisely why I was asking why we could have 2 Priests to distribute JUST a Sacramental, but at the same Mass, only 1 to distribute a real Sacrament.
