Ingenious solution, I like it ! Of course the priest could use an Aspergillum dipped into the aspersorium to spritz the patrons with holy water at the beginning of Mass. In searching for the named device I learned the first mentioned Aspergillum was a cocus sparrow tied to a cedar handle with its tail dipped in the blood of a sacrificial sparrow, which was then sprinkled upon the audience. Interesting how things evolve from tradition.
