WELL THIS IS LITURGICALLY EMBARASSING!

As teenagers, we all remember being embarrassed by our so-called aging parents! The National Chismatic Reporter (NCR) has an article on the closing "liturgy" of the "women's ordination conference" in Philadelphia. The NCR likes this kind of thing, and they also like pro-choice ideologies and a whole host of other things that are, well, shall I write it, chismatic!

For the most part, all the women in this congregation are in the 70's, 80's and 90's except for a few want-a-be flower child types who have a great nostalgia for the 1960's.

But speaking about embarrassed, there is one shot of one child who present with her flower child want-to-be mother. She must be a preteen and her facial expression and demeanor says it all--get me out of here!!!!!!!

This isn't liturgically embarrassing, since it isn't liturgical - it's an after-dinner singalong with some waving of coloured scarves. I might have been embarrassed for them had I been a woman and an American, but I could not even feel embarrassed for the token male in the green shirt; if he wants to be a wally, then so be it. He would be better employed, beer in hand, watching the Rugby World Cup; and the old biddies, rather than making fools of themselves, would be better employed baking cakes.

I feel so sorry for the poor child, being forced to attend that lesbian, episcopalian sing-along. I just threw up every bit of what I ate over the past three days by watching that ridiculous whatever-you-want-to-call-it.

Isn't it possible for you three to disagree without demeaning the other people....without being mean-spirited and nasty?

I sort of agree with JN on this, Exeter for the American bit. We are too dense to be embarrassed by what we do. Seems like a harmless sing along. Like the All Blacks Haka I caught on YouTube last night.

Gobshite, if by 'you three' you mean Fr AJM, Anonymous@9:14 and myself, I don't think we do disagree.

As for the video clip, it speaks for itself - one can't ridicule what is patently ridiculous in the first place.

Just trying to help... give "you three" a bit of a tip in civility...good manners...things that some learn as children, but you apparently missed.

I saw this video, and I was baffled. Is it an attempt at Mass --er, I mean, "Eucharist"? It's impossible to tell. There are bread and wine on all tables, but we never see anything close to a consecration. Maybe they simply omitted it from the video, but why? Seriously, why? Everyone was wearing stole-like garments -- was everyone a concelebrant -- is that it?
