WHO IS BEING THE LEFTIST BOOR HERE?

The guest list at the White House is causing not a few raised eyebrows. President Obama is being called a leftist boor. The pope is being called the President's leftist accomplice. The Church is going to hell in a handbag is the battle cry of the ultra self righteous traditionalists.

Maybe they are all boors, who knows, only time will tell and what actually occurs next week here in the USA and I am willing to wait, hear and evaluate and without soundbites, vitriol or paranoia. I am going to listen and read what the Pope says in its entirety and within context and not allow blogs, the main line media or anyone else spin or twist the pope for their own ideologies.

But those who think Pope Francis has coordinated the guest list at the White House with His Holiness' good buddy POTUS, should read this and then ask themselves this question:

Do they have a disdain for clergy visiting the prison and ministering to the most vile of convicted felons? Do they reject such people from or any sinner from entering a church building and attending Mass?  Just wondering!

Breitbart (spin) tells us that our graceless President continues to be a leftist boor:

In a stunning show of political indecorum, Obama has invited a series of individuals who publicly flout Catholic teaching, including a pro-abortion religious sister, a transgender woman and the first openly gay Episcopal bishop, along with at least two Catholic gay activists.

The White House was illuminated in gay pride colors on June 26, 2015, after the Supreme Court legalized gay same-sex marriage.

One of the invitees, retired Episcopal bishop Gene Robinson, made history by becoming the first openly gay episcopal bishop in 2003 and subsequently the first to divorce his gay partner in 2014, after having previously separated from his wife of 14 years. He has attended a number of religious events with the Obama administration, offering a prayer at President Obama’s inauguration in 2009 and taking part in the 2014 National Prayer Breakfast.

Mateo Williamson, a cross-dressing woman and former co-chairman of the Transgender Caucus for Dignity USA, has also received an invitation to the White House for Pope Francis’ visit. Williamson says that though she now thinks of herself as a man, she continues to be attracted to males. “Today I identify as a gay man and before that was difficult to understand because I thought that in order to be transgender, in order to be a transgender male that I had to be attracted to females but I never have throughout my entire life.”

Though Pope Francis has said that he doesn’t believe in judging persons and is ready to welcome anyone in Christ’s name, he has also said that Catholics do not accept the modern mentality of transgenderism and once said that gay marriage is the devil’s “attempt to destroy God’s plan.”

“The acceptance of our bodies as God’s gift,” Francis wrote in his encyclical letter on the environment, “is vital for welcoming and accepting the entire world as a gift from the Father and our common home, whereas thinking that we enjoy absolute power over our own bodies turns, often subtly, into thinking that we enjoy absolute power over creation.”

Earlier this month, the Vatican officially prohibited transgender persons from being baptismal godparents posing as the opposite sex from which they were born.
In its response, the Vatican Doctrinal Congregation said that “transsexual behavior publicly reveals an attitude contrary to the moral imperative of resolving the problem of one’s sexual identity according to the truth of one’s sexuality.”

Another White House invitee for the Pope’s visit, Sister Simone Campbell, is the pro-abortion executive director of the social justice lobby NETWORK. Campbell fought against the U.S. bishops when Obama’s Affordable Care Act was originally being debated, in an attempt to undermine their abortion and conscience concerns.

There is a difference between visiting sinners of all stripes in prison, etc. where the Church is ministering from a position of strength and evangelical witness and in supporting what is deliberately a set-up of the powers and principalities by willingly entering their lair. Plus, it is a terrible message to send the faithful.

What a great photo...don't you just thrill to see a couple so in love, one holding his staff while the other swoons?

I don't think Francis would have the slightest problem in greeting those people. After all it's not like he was asked to show kindness to Cardinal Burke. Who I believe is not even permitted to set foot inside the Archdiocese of Washington per the orders of a certain prelate known for showing his civility especially when he puts on the Jackie Kennedy whispery voice. Oh sorry, I hope delicate sensibilities will not be scandalized by my comments. They are not written out of a lack of charity, you just have to understand them. Just like the Pope wearing a Communist "crucifix" around his neck, he wasn't offended he understood. I understand also.

So you know for sure Cardinal Burke is persona non grata in Washington, DC having heard this from His Eminence or is it malicious gossip which today's First reading from St.Timothy condemns and is surely considered a mortal sin needing the Sacrament of Confession (malicious gossip)?

The White House made the Dahli Lama leave through the back door for fear of offending the Chinese. This confirms my opinion that the Catholic Church is more tolerant and welcoming than the People Republic of China and therefore due more support from our government. However, I think both actions are done to pander to two of the respective political bases that our government panders to. The Pope can use his status as head of state to carry his message to people who may not have gotten it or have it heavily filtered and edited. This is tricky for the reasons that drive this post and replies.

Our dear Lord does not wish that any should perish but that all should return to penance. He is patient for our sake . . . Pray for the conversion of the USA.

Rev. MacDonald - Yes, they "know for sure" that this or that is true because the voices in their heads tell them it is true. That or, "They read it on the internet."

I hope the Pope will not play along with Obama's crass propaganda, but I fear that the Pooe who had no problem with the Commie crucifix may not care less, because mercy.

Tolerance does not mean acceptance. Love does not mean permission. I think Pope Francis understands this and President Obama does not. We can hope that the American people understand the differences as well. I expect nothing less than Christ-like behavior from Pope Francis while President Obama, in his vanity, tries to tempt, trick and mock the Vicar Of Christ.

I don't know about the "Cardinal Burke situation" mentioned above, but if true, could we really be surprised? After all, Cardinal Wuerl has yet to impose any disciplinary action on Anthony Kennedy, who provided the "swing vote" (even though he supposedly is Catholic) that for the rest of our country's existence has left us stuck with gay marriage. I hope at their fall meeting, the Conference of Catholic bishops passes a unanimous resolution condemning Kennedy for this treachery. But on the other hand, I am not holding my breath as my pastor says a lot of bishops (at least in 2008) voted for Obama. Perhaps even mine up here in Atlanta.

I share your hope but given that various followers of this_Catholic_Blog (how many, I wonder) either cannot or will not understand the differences but continue to insist that Pope Francis is some kind of leftist radical who “had no problem with the Commie crucifix” (for example), I have my doubts.
