THE HOLY FATHER IS HEARING CONFESSIONS IN SAINT PETER'S BASILICA

The Holy Father also wears the rochet over his cassock and under the cope for the liturgical part of the Penance Service in St. Peter's. Later the cope is removed as he goes to hear confessions.

No father. He WENT to confession first!

The pope isn't wearing a rochet, he is wearing a surplice. A rochet has close fitting cuffs. It's similar to the difference between a dalmatic and a tunicle. The difference is slight, but it's a difference.
