THE REPORTER CALLS HIM PASTOR KAVANAUGH!

The following link is from WJBF TV in Augusta which did a story on the iphone app for confession. They went to my former parish, The Church of the Most Holy Trinity and interviewed one of my former parishioners, Mr. Joe Count who is the father-in-law of my former, but the church's still current wedding director, Lisa. She's married to Joe junior.

At any rate, one of my successors since 2004, he's the third, Father Michael Kavanaugh is interviewed by the reporter about this app. Maybe the Protestant reporter can't say "father" because of scriptural admonitions. So here is father unknown:

The explanation sounds like it's just an electronic version of a confessional guide. Is that right? The emailers seemed to think it was something else.

Yes, there is confusion about. It's just an electronic examination of conscience with the order of confession and act of contrition.

Then I may download it and check it out. I have lots of little hand books I have collected that discuss examinations of conscience.

Frajm,

Are you giving us a hint as to the true identity of Pater Ignotus by mentioning "Father Unknown" twice in this post, e.g. "here is Father Unknown"?

The secret identity of commenters is sacred. But being a post-Vatican II priest, it is better when the "secret" is prayed out loud for all to hear and renamed the prayer over the offerings.

Some of us had already figured out his identity. Doesn't really matter. I respect his intelligence and his contributions even if I rarely agree with him. I've never cared for all the anonymity, anyway. Except for the rare instances where anonymity may be a real issue, I believe people ought to be who they are and say what they believe. The internet allows for too much unaccountability.

Some people are confused and do think it is an app that you use to replace confessinos. Shesh. If hte media gets it wrong (which is most of the time does with these Catholic things) then everyone else gets the wrong message. So, more work for us to do around here to clarify the message that this app does NOT replace confessions.

Of course, Most Holy Trinity just screams for TLM...I have attended Mass and Adoration there. It is a beautiful Church.

But will Pater Ignotus allow it at Most Holy Trinity even if it requires no effort on his part?

Still praying and waiting.

Please be aware that I will delete emails that call for agitation against anyone or any parish as to what should and shouldn't be done specifically in those locations.

So, then I can't agitate for a folk mass at St. Joseph's?

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

Well, what if the pope issued a decree similar to Summorum Pontificum that I allow it? And I really had a hard time with it? Oh, the humanity!

I'm sure we can look forward to internet and cell phone confessions, all in proper cyber speak and grammar: "4 giv me fr 4 I hav cnd...his mer c n dures 4 ever."

Oh, Boy. Praise b 2 God.
