SILEREI NON POSSUM HAS AN EXCELLENT COMMENTARY ON THE HUBRIS OF THE FSSPX BUT ALSO ON THE HUBRIS OF THOSE IN HIGH PLACES IN THE CHURCH WHO HAVE NOT PRESENTED VATICAN II TO THE CHURCH BUT SOMETHING ELSE NOT IN CONTINUITY WITH VATICAN II OR ANY COUNCIL THAT HAS PRECEDED VATICAN II--WHAT POPE BENEDICT CALLED THE HERMENEUTIC OF RUPTURE!

I'd say a spineless Rome is at a dead end to rational people. Perverts are running the Church

The SSPX aren't Shakers. They need to function for the good of souls. Rome seems bent on their extinction while emphasizing social justice and worldly cares. It's a shame, it's prideful and this will only hurt innocent adherents.

The Vatican is full of leftwing perverts. That is the explanation. They hate themselves and hate the Faith. That is why they can't stand Faithful, traditional Catholics. To my knowledge, the Vatican has never dealt with the cocaine fueled gay sex orgy at the Vatican. It was swept under the rug. Otherwise, MT Suit would have reported on it!

What happened to "My Kingdom is not of this World?" The Church's mission is to save souls, not function as an NGO

I have read this kind of comment from others and it smacks of the heresy of Gnosticism, meaning the material is bad and the spiritual is good. The Church’s mission, since Jesus’ public ministry is both material and spiritual. Salvation begins here and now not only in saving souls from the fires of hell, but saving them in the here and now from the fires of the evil one who manifests himself in wars, injustice, in poverty, hunger and the destruction of God’s creation which we call earth with its many components. God will redeem the material at the end of time and restore it to the Garden of Eden. It’s not either/or but both/and, and the Church acts as an NGO at times to improve people’s lives and also works with governments to do exactly the same thing.

I think most reasonable people know this. Primary mission, spread gospel/save souls. Complimentary mission, among others, charity and social justice. It seems, at times, that the complimentary mission gets manipulated relative to ideological pursuits with the primary mission sitting in the corner waiting for people to remember it's there. At a high level, I can see how a comparison with the gnostic heresy is possible, down lower, I don't agree that was the intent.

Manichaeism, not Gnosticism, is the heretical belief that "the material is bad and the spiritual is good." (Gnosticism is a diverse collection of 2nd-century religious and philosophical systems that emphasized gnosis (personal, esoteric knowledge) over institutional faith for salvation.)

The notion that seeking Social Justice has replaced "saving souls" is nonsense. Its foundations are Biblical and the practice of seeking justice was commanded by the Lord himself - when I was hungry, thirsty, a stranger, naked, in prison, ill you cared for me.

Seeking justice is not "complimentary" to saving souls. It is an essential element of seeking salvation by living out the commands of the Lord as prompted by the Holy Spirit which is precisely how we continue His mission on this side of the tombstone.

It strikes me that the SSPX thinking gets muddled by an overriding desire to avoid appearing, in any way, modern. They erroneously see the desire for justice for all to be a notion so tainted by modernity that it must be denounced. The 16th century mindset of the SSPXers may be tied to the out-dated thought that some people were to have much while others were to have little, even the little that would provide for a dignified life. That's how we got hierarchical feudalism with hereditary aristocracy on the "have much" side and vassals and serfs on the "have little" side. They argued, you will recall, Divine Right for such a skewed system.
