Pope Leo is certainly at home at Castel Gandolfo.
A packed, hot Church, but Pope LeoXIV is cool as a cucumber.
One peculiar mistake, and that’s the deacon’s mistake and the MC’s mistake for not taking it off the altar right away. Do you see it?
I haven’t watched the video of the Mass to see how all that happened.
Nice miter, no?
Do you see the glitch?
UPDATE ON THE GLITCH: I just watched the video. It’s the deacon’s fault. The MC is not your typical papal MC. Maybe he is a member of the parish staff? But he doesn’t see it and he should have and then corrected the deacon’s mistake.
Unfortunately, the correction takes place after the Holy Father incenses the altar, with a huge thurible, I might add. As he washes his hands, the camera focuses on other things. I think the pope, while washing his hands had to tell the MC to correct the mistake, because when the camera returns to the focus on the pope, the mistake is corrected. Thanks be to God.
A disclaimer: I am a former MC for the Diocese of Savannah for the late Bishop Raymond Lessard. So these are things I obsess on. Medication doesn't’ help.

Father McDonald, then here is a book you must read. I plan to do so!

Those vestments might be very nice, they don't photograph well. Hoping this current, or next MC enhances vestiture.
I'm not a fan of those large thuribles. Just seems unwieldly and unnecessary. Back in my Roman days, on the numerous occasions I was thurifer, I really disliked the larger one we had, it was just all over the place and the chains liked to get tangled. Smaller ones, could easily do a 360.
Didn't want to watch the video to make guessing the "glitch" more difficult. Book of the Gospels placed back on the altar after proclamation of the Gospel? That's the best I could come up with...

Yes, the deacon brought the book to the pope for him to kiss and bless the congregation with it. Then the deacon takes it from the pope and places it on the altar again. It remains there for the preparation of the offerings and the pope incensing them and the altar. The camera shifts to something else as the pope washes his hands and when the camera returns to the altar the book is gone.
I noticed that the MC forgot to take off the Holy Father's mitre when he approached the altar for the offertory so Pope Leo did it himself and handed it to the MC...I'm sure the guy may have been a little "flustered" being the MC for the Holy Father...bless him...
The Holy Fathered ignored the tiny altar crucifix placed to his left amid the 3 candlesticks...he just incensed the large crucifixion painting
Don't see the Pope genuflecting much but he did at the recessional. I believe he just bowed at the introit.
I saw pics on another post of the chasuble...he wore this when he was a cardinal but with a more ornate mitre actually.
Hot dog! Where do I collect my prize? And are there bonus points for identifying that GIRM No. 306 regulates this point??
