THE SACRAMENT OF PENANCE (CONFESSION/RECONCILIATION) RETURNS TO SAINT ANNE CATHOLIC CHURCH BUT OUTSIDE THE MAIN CHURCH BUILDING

We will resume the Sacrament of Penance, but outside on Saturday from 3:30 to 4:30 PM. The two priests of Saint Anne will be at the side entrances of the church. We'll be wearing masks and we ask penitents to do so also, maintaining 6 feet or more of physical distancing when approaching. They will also be six feet away from the confessor.

Yes, like that but with the kneeler facing the screen. Likewise I had not been in such a well lighted confessional for many years.

I would stay flexible as for location and orientation if any breeze or wind, as either confessor or penitant will be left feeling atsy and preoccupied if directly downwind of the other, and we want a good confession rather than either suddenly really wishing they were elsewhere.

None of this of neccessity, as far as I am concerned, where I believe a homemade mask no more effective than a NEW t-shirt layer, which at 50-60% blocking of 1 micron, and that other 40%-50% of hundreds of thousands or millions in a cough or sneeze getting through, makes wearing one essentially useless, but it has become the badge of "team player", "good citizen", "virtue signaler", while not wearing one earns "mass murderer", that folk are really uncomfortable being seen in places without one....besides, we are talking CONFESSION here, and a mask is marvy, where a guy can go knock over a liquor store, spend the money, and THEN go the Confession, and do it in the right order at least once in their lives.

WE are still using the normal confessional which is the size of two phone booths, maybe three, kneeler and screen nearest door, far side of screen the Priest Chair (the proper liturgical name, I think) with handy Holy Outlet Of Power (ditto) for his cell phone, and a small wingback for penitant staying for tea (I guess).

I have not been in a while, now, since it is wiped down once, maybe twice, as week, whether it needs it or not.
