CONFUSED IN RICHMOND HILL

The Orange County Bishop tweeted the following words and picture. The picture is of the main altar with a humongous monstrance on top of it at the former Crystal Cathedral but soon to be Christ Cathedral. Certainly it’s not a permanent feature and I thought there was a separate Blessed Sacrament Chapel? What do you make of this????

“Sacrament Tower” and Monstrance for Christ Cathedral: patterned after the Creen Tower!

Renovation cost $77 million. That’s after the purchase price of over $100 million. That’s after a payout of $100 million in 2004 to victims of clergy sexual abuse. Wow, just wow...

I like the monstrance, it resembles the organ's pipes, but the marble on the altar is too busy. It looks like light reflections in a rocky stream. The uncomfortable looking seats in the back are the same color, which makes the altar feel out of focus. Maybe some upholstery can fix it?

Purchase price was $57.5 million, not $100 million.

Mea culpa. Original purchase $57.5 million. Thank you Anon.
Add that to $77 million renovation cost = $134.5 million. That’s a lotta dough after paying out $100 million for clerical sex abuse settlements. Just sayin

Not a fan of the monochromatic steel and marble. It's cold and mechanical.
