Reads like a glossary for the services at First Methodist Church of Bugeye, Alabama...

In the same spirit, I wish we could ban response B to the Mystery of Faith, as it suggests, as so many of these words and phrases do, the very ordinary nature of things.

Presider sets my teeth on edge, as the logical extension is that any of us might preside.

We are church just makes me gag.

1. "Let us all join hands and pray the prayer that Jesus gave us"

2. "Hugs are an outward sign of inward grace" (at the Sign of Peace)

My pastor constantly refers to our church as a "worship space", and the vestibule as a "gathering space". It drives me nuts!! I also don't like that the church sign says "St. ________ Catholic Community" instead of "Catholic Church" or "Catholic Parish".

There is no such thing as "space" in a Catholic Church, because of the True Presence. We used to call the local Anglican parish the Real Absence. As to language, one speaks as one believes, sadly.

Supertradmum,You said it! One speaks as one believes...and don't tell me these people don't know exactly what they are saying and implying.

..and one believes as one has been trained to speak.

Most folks are robots simply assimilating what is in their environment. Most don't say what they believe, they believe what they hear, and then simply repreat it.
Usually, we're about as dumb as sheep.

I agree Squeak, which is why I have always maintained that this Communion in the Hand business is nonsense foisted upon us by Clergy. If the Clergy would but explain why it is wrong it would stop, and most pew sitters wouldn't bat an eye. Sure the 10% of the laity that are open heretics would complain (as they have with the new translation)but the 80%, the silent Majority, would just go along with it.
