Two parishes in my Diocese of Savannah were still stuck in the 1970’s when tabernacles were moved from the central axis of the Church to a separate chapel.
In the case of Columbus, Georgia’s Saint Anne Church, the church completed in the late 1980’s had a separate chapel, really a broom closet situated at the back of the nave (the entrance) with a window in which one could peer in. Ridiculous. That was remedied in the late 90’s or early 2000’s when a large day chapel for daily Mass was built behind the main altar and a beautiful tabernacle placed there.
Within the last few weeks or months, not sure, the tabernacle has been placed also in the main church, truly a barn of a church, more like an auditorium than a Catholic Church. Hopefully this is a temporary look until something more beautiful in both what the tabernacle is placed upon and the tabernacle itself can be designed:

Baby steps.
Our tabernacles are dead center of the altar (Holy Table) in every one of our churches and cathedrals, no exceptions.
Such a simple thing makes such a difference. Hopefully, it leads to more re-enchantment.
Agree with TJM, these liturgical consultants are worthless. It's all about their fetishes and agendas spun to.....how did Vosko put it...."address the current needs of the people". Like what, the true absence? Ridiculous and so much money wasted on ridiculousness.
