FEAST OF ALL SAINTS
DOUBLE, FIRST CLASS / WHITE
This is the great family feast of the Mystical Body in its final triumph. The unnumbered and nameless multitude of saints, "out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues," are our brothers and sisters in Christ at home with our Redeemer-Brother. Their sainthood is the fulfillment of living the eight Beatitudes. They are the great Christian heroes. "Eye has not seen nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man, what things God has prepared for those who love Him" (I Cor. 2:9).
INTROIT
Let us all rejoice in the Lord as we celebrate the feast in honor of all the saints upon which the angels rejoice and praise the Son of God.

I am very excited that All Saints Day is on a Sunday this year. I love this feast, and am so looking forward to Mass that day with the full congregation (well, at least with those who are coming out to Mass during the continuing restrictions). What a joy!

Bee, the Mass of the Ages project is filming(sic) at St John Cantius this week. I don’t have more specifics.

On a street in Lyon, France, today a priest was shot twice with a sawn off shot gun by a man who then fled the scene. The priest is now in hospital with life threatening injuries.
Are events like this getting much coverage in the USA?
When some journalists write that the reasons for this shooting are unclear. I am reminded of the immediate coverage of the murder of the English soldier, Lee Rigby, who was stabbed and hacked to death by 2 Muslim converts on a London street and the 2 murderers stayed at the scene and told people there: we have killed this man because British troops are killing Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq and by Allah we swear we will never stop fighting you.....and told people to call police and handed over a 2 page statement repeating their reasons and their beliefs......yet BBC journalists and others could claim: the motives for this attack remain unclear.
.....actually, the man was a Greek Orthodox priest. Fr Kakavelakis was shot twice at 4pm while closing his church.
The ABC is far worse than the BBC! They have immediately declared “There are no indications the attack was terrorism-related”.
It is true we don’t 100% know right now why this priest was shot. But when these repeated atrocities occur in the UK and Western Europe like 23 teenage girls killed by a bomb at a pop music concert or 3 homosexual men stabbed to death in broad day light in a park and on and on what really are the odds the perpetrator(s) were young men radicalised by the Hillsong Church, the Latin Mass Society or Zen Buddhism etc?
And in France right now, after we know why a history teacher was beheaded and why 3 Catholic worshippers were slaughtered, and the whole atmosphere around those cartoons, and so on, I’d say there is a good chance that any priest being shot while closing his church just might be terrorism related and the shooter just may turn out to be a young Muslim extremist.

rcg- How interesting! I didn't hear anything about it. I wonder what the scoop is. We have 6 Masses scheduled for tomorrow, All Souls Day. I was really surprised at the number because 5 of them are TLM. Typically the highlight on All Souls we have a 7:30pm High Mass which features Mozart's Requiem with full orchestra and choir, but that has been scaled down because of COVID and it will only be a sung Mass with chant (the Canons provide the chant).
I imagine filming will be somewhat easy and unobtrusive because we have live streaming of all liturgies, and "the guys" (meaning the Canons) have purchased and learned how to use pretty sophisticated live streaming equipment.
I'll have to ask around.

I went out to the Mass of the Ages Facebook page, and saw several posts about St. John Cantius, and also one or two about St. Martha's Guild (!), the sewing/embroidery group I belong to at St. John's. I wasn't there yesterday (we have restrictions on the number that can be there at any one time due to COVID, and have to sign up. We only meet once a week for 2 hours at a time most weeks, and have two additional days where we meet for 6 hours. We try to be considerate of each other so everybody gets one or two days a month, and people come for whatever amount of time they can.)
There are some photos of the St. Martha's Guild workspace and some of our members. One of the photos shows a lady embroidering in blue. We are making a very special and elaborate frontal for Our Lady's altar that will feature some beautiful antique silver (real silver) lace. What is wonderful is that the number of hours needed to finish the elaborate embroidery allows all of us to work on the piece at some point over the months it will take us to finish. Our hearts are overjoyed at being able to contribute to making such a beautiful work in honor of Our Mother.
I miss Fr. Phillips (the founder and the one through whom the Holy Spirit worked to begin this work of the Canons Regular whose mission is "restoring the sacred", and who worked on it for 30 years. His direction and inspirations were breathtaking.) God has moved him aside now and hidden him, I expect so that all of the glory of the fruits of Father's work and prayers will be given solely to God, and Fr. Phillips will preserve his reward for when he gets to heaven. God bless him a hundredfold!
I look forward to seeing the final product of Mass of the Ages. The teaser they have on their web site brought tears to my eyes...

I find it odd that Pope Francis (to my knowledge) has not commented on the killing of Catholics in France. Contra agenda?
There is an indirect comment from Pope Franics, via the Secretary of State, Cardinal Parolin as wells a Vatican News (Radio):
“It’s a moment of pain, in a time of confusion,” said Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni in a statement to reporters. “Terrorism and violence must never be tolerated. Today’s attack sowed death in a place of love and consolations, such as the house of the Lord.
“The pope is informed of the situation and is close to the grieving Catholic community,” the Vatican statement continued. “He prays for the victims and their loved ones, so that the violence will cease, and they may return to see each other as brothers and sisters and not enemies so that the beloved French people may respond united for good against evil.”

Francis’ comments were conveyed in a letter sent to Bishop André Marceau of Nice and signed by the Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, in which he condemned “in the strongest possible way such violent acts of terror.”
France is becoming a war zone thanks to Islam.
Trucks driven into crowds. Shooting up theater-goers and cartoonists. Beheading people, murdering a little Jewish schoolgirl or people at a kosher market...and Jihadis keep flowing out of mosques.
Imagine such ongoing violence from Christian extremists, from within a 5% Christian minority in a majority Muslim nation!!
How would that Christian minority be regarded and then treated by the majority?
But Muslim leaders in the west are in a hard position. If one was to too strongly condemn homicidal killers as Jihadist monsters and condemn too strongly any who enable such monsters....such a Muslim leader would become a target of....guess who?
