In a documentary that will be premiered in the United States this Sunday at the Savannah Film Festival, Pope Francis has indicated his support for civil unions for same-sex partners. (It is sponsored by the Savannah College of Art and Design “SCAD”).

"Homosexuals have a right to be a part of the family," said the pope in "Francesco," the documentary directed by Evgeny Afineevsky. "They're children of God and have a right to a family," he said. "Nobody should be thrown out, or be made miserable because of it."

"What we have to have is a civil union law; that way they are legally covered," said Francis.

There are six things you need to know about Francis and civil unions.

Read the rest at NCR.

Is it a coincidence that this USA premiere will take place on the eve that I have a wedding for the daughter of the World Series Winning pitching coach last year for the Washington Nationals, whose World Series $40,000 ring I wore at his daughter’s rehearsal last night at our Cathedral-Basilica? I report; you retort. Just saying:

Well this will cause "liberals" hair to catch on fire. I doubt a Biden Administration would sign this given, Biden's extreme position on abortion:

"The Trump administration led a 32-nation signing ceremony of a declaration that affirms there is no international right to abortion.

On Thursday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Health & Human Services Alex Azar co-hosted the virtual signing of the Geneva Consensus Declaration along with the governments of Brazil, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, and Uganda.

The declaration serves as a rebuke to the pro-abortion rights U.N. and World Health Organization (W.H.O.)."

I cannot find that the Vatican signed this, but since the Vatican under Pope Francis worships the UN and WHO, I doubt it.

Father:

“Apropos of nothing...”, as a well-known guy from my city was wont to say...

What is that enormous “man ring” you’re wearing in the photo? It looks sports-related... or are you revealing that you’re a previously designated cardinal “in pectore”?

:-)

As there is no international right to abortion, nor is there a national one in the United States. Roe v. Wade is made-up law. It is legislation (which falls under the domain of our legislative bodies), not adjudication. I don't know why liberals in the United States are so fearful if Roe goes the way of black and white TV and the typewriter---liberals often like to claim that the American public overwhelmingly backs Roe. OK, lets call their bluff and overturn Roe, see what the states do with the issue.

As for SCAD and the film, well, Chatham County (Savannah) is more or less one of the few blue islands in southeast Georgia. It hasn't voted Republican for president since 2000, when it backed Bush over Gore by about 250 votes. Nearby Liberty County (Fort Stewart) also is blue, Going west of Savannah on the dreadfully boring Interstate 16, you won't hit anything reliably blue til you reach Macon (Bibb County),

I just read Joshua J. McElwee's review of the movie about His Holiness, Pope Francis.

Mister McElwee said that three "momments in particular stand out in "Francesco..."

He said:

"The third moment of the film is more than a moment."

It is the meeting between Pope Francis and sexual abuse survivor Juan Carlos Cruz in April, 2018 A.D.

"Cruz, who has now met with the pope on various occasions, told NCR that Francis 'has strengthened a faith that I never wanted to lose and that I was in such jeopardy of losing.' "

"He is a man like no other," Cruz said of the pope. "I don't have the words to say how much he's changed my life."

The above tremendous testimony has led me to contemplate the countless folks, many broken in various ways, who God, via Pope Francis, has drawn close to Him.

That is the ultimate Francis Effect. With God's help, Pope Francis leads people to holiness. Pope Francis leads people to God.

God has employed Pope Francis to fill with hope, joy, and the determination to draw close to Him (God), the hearts and minds of countless folks.

But along the way to the holy and wonderful ultimate Francis Effect, I have identified numerous Francis Effects.

-- The Francis Effect...the countless folks who, via Pope Francis' endless promotion of the Holy Sacrament of Penance, have been restored to communion with God.

-- The Francis Effect...thanks to Pope Francis' endless warnings that Satan is real, and seeks our ruination, countless folks have fled The Evil One.

-- The Francis Effect...the determination to spur folks to protect human life, from conception to natural death, via Pope Francis' endless pro-life declarations.

-- The Francis Effect...via Pope Francis' tireless defense and promotion of God's teachings related to family and marriage, countless broken families have been repaired in holy fashion...and many additional families have maintained their closeness to God.

-- The Francis Effect...the tremendous amount of holiness that has been unleashed via Pope Francis' wonderful promotions of The Holy Rosary, Indulgences, devotionals...exhortations to cultivate relationships with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, Angels, and Saints.

There are additional Francis Effects. But the multiple Francis Effect lead to the ultimate Francis Effect.

That is, with the vital assistance of such holy and great priests as Father McDonald (who, for example, is a pioneer in the establishment of Liturgical Peace via his celebrations of the Novus Ordo, as well as TLM), Pope Francis has been raised and empowered from On High to draw people to God.

That is the ultimate Francis Effect.

May God bless me with the great opportunity to view the movie "Francesco."

Pax.
