This is an army town and many parishioners are active duty or retired, thus I don't want to be martyred on that cross of moving flags, especially the American Flag in this day and age.
Agreed and those who are serving or, have served deserve special consideration in addition to our gratitude. I found a wide-angle shot of your chapel online and available space appears to be very limited anyhow.

I've said before how much I like this chapel. I like the clear windows as well.
