One of the big differences between a Mass at a TLM church and your cathedral EF Mass, is how "cold" or bare the altar looks in the latter for such a great feast. In the former, you would have likely had plenty of cut flowers on the gradines and elsewhere to enhance the solemn character of the Mass by natural beauty.
