Pope Leo arrives at the Lourdes’ Grotto behind St. Peter’s to close out the Month of Mary with the Holy Rosary. His Holiness is stunningly papal!
Santa Marta is too expensive: Pope Leo returns to the Apostolic Palace
Moneybyte:
Leone has first of all reestablished—with kindness but firmness—the dignity proper to the Supreme Pontiff with small but significant gestures. The new Pope willingly accepts the kissing of his hand as a sign of respect and reverence, but woe betide anyone who asks him for a selfie, a symbol of the pop decadence to which Bergoglio had become so accustomed. Even his outward appearance has returned to that befitting the successor of Peter, with more appropriate and formal attire: the Pope wears the choral vestments (rocchetto and red mozzetta over the cassock) on formal occasions and wears the Fisherman's Ring he received last Sunday on a daily basis.

As money is a concern...
Certain folks here and elsewhere have insisted that Papal worldwide travel has long constituted a tremendous financial, as well as energy, drain.
Said folks have argued that a Pope could conduct Apostolic Visits virtually.
Example:
"The Chicago Archdiocese is hosting a celebration and mass at Rate Field on Saturday, June 14, to honor Pope Leo XIV..."
"Pope Leo XIV will deliver a special video message to the young people of the world during the event."
=======
In regard to security issues:
The curtailment of Papal travel would eliminate the considerable financial drain related to need to protect the Pope...as well as the security headaches related to the protection of a Pope who travels.
=======
The Apostolic Palace is in the midst of a renovation. Why spend a cent on that? By all appearances, Pope Leo XIV has been just fine in his present living quarters.
=======
It may be that Pope Leo XIV is keen to save money and energy via the curtailment of Papal travel...as well as remaining in his present living quarters.

Excerpts below: From our august Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV:
=======
In defense of human life...
"Dear friends, we received life before we ever desired it. As Pope Francis said: “all of us are sons and daughters, but none of us chose to be born” (Angelus, 1 January 2025).
"Not only that. As soon as we were born, we needed others in order to live; left to ourselves, we would not have survived. Someone else saved us by caring for us in body and spirit.
"That human kindness is sometimes betrayed. As for example, whenever freedom is invoked not to give life, but to take it away, not to help, but to hurt.
"Yet even in the face of the evil that opposes and takes life, Jesus continues to pray to the Father for us."

Father McDonald,
The late, great Father Hunwicke had this article in waiting before his death to be published after Francis died. "Obituary of a Very Failed Pontificate!"
