Father Robert became a priest 43 years ago, just steps from the Vatican
The chasuble design that Fr. Prevost is wearing in 1983 shortly after his ordination to the priesthood, is so pre-Vatican II! What was he thinking????
Yes, this chasuble design was mocked in the post Vatican II period. No hip, young priest should have worn it! But Fr. Prevost did. O my! What can I say?????
But what is more shocking, than the pre-Vatican II vestment design, is that I am older than the Pope and ordained two years longer than he has been. That is truly tragic! But I was far more hip than Fr. Prevost, I would never have been caught dead in that chasuble in the 1980’s, especially at my ordination or first Mass!
See what I mean? The second photo, I am wearing a completely hip-like plain chasuble, with the all important external stole, plain too! First photo is my ordination:
And then, most shocking of all, our Holy Father once appeared like this! It’s Armageddon, to say the least!
I never, ever would have worn my grandmother’s lace!

Well at least the Pope was never into the slob look
Symbols on a symbol?! For shame, Pope Leo. For shame.

Lace, as well as candlestick arrangement, will not make His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, immune to the following manner of denunciation:
Statement from Bishop Joseph E. Strickland:
On the Appointment of Bishop Shane Mackinlay as Archbishop of Brisbane
June 18, 2025
"With deep concern for the faithful of the Church, I feel compelled to address the recent appointment of Bishop Shane Mackinlay as Archbishop of Brisbane by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
"While we owe filial respect and obedience to the Holy Father in matters properly within his authority, this appointment raises serious pastoral and doctrinal questions.
"Bishop Mackinlay has publicly expressed support for the possibility of ordaining women to the diaconate—a position that not only introduces grave confusion but directly challenges the consistent teaching and tradition of the Catholic Church.
"Appointing a bishop who holds such views to shepherd a major archdiocese is a source of scandal and division."

Bishop Strickland is not alone in his opinion that Pope Leo XIV has fomented scandal and division within the Church.
But just wait until His Holiness gets rolling in regard to his promotion of Vatican II, which he announced will be in line with Pope Francis' implementation of said Council...
...gets rolling in regard to his implementation of ecumenism, interreligious dialogue, climate change-related teachings, the inevitable denunciation of capitalism, calls for disarmament...
...additional appointments of Cardinals and bishops deemed "dreadful."
Pope Leo XIV will be bashed and trashed...denounced and labeled as "just another of our Vatican II Era modernistic Popes."
The above is the way of a certain extreme wing within the Church.
But the good news is that, as had been the case with Pope Francis, as well as each of Pope Francis' Vatican II Era predecessors, the overwhelming amount of Catholics will love and respect Pope Leo XIV.

Father James Martin, SJ":
"A superb choice. Bishop Mackinlay was a real leader during the Synod."

May 8, 2025 A.D. On the air with Glenn Beck. Seconds after Pope Leo XIV had been announced as Pope. Bishop Strickland said in regard to then-Cardinal Prevost's time at the Dicastery for Bishops:
"He was involved in naming bishops that I find very troubling."

If James Martin, SJ, LGBT is for Mackinlay then it is a disastrous appointment!
Bishop Strickland on then-Cardinal Prevost's time at the Dicastery for Bishops:
"He was involved in naming bishops that I find very troubling."
My inclination, then, is to favor the future Pope Leo XIV's judgment in question.
Pax.
