Vatican City – On Sunday, June 29, 2025, on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Eucharistic Celebration in St. Peter’s Basilica at 9:30 a.m. During the Mass, he will personally bless and bestow the Pallia upon the new Metropolitan Archbishops, restoring a tradition that had been suspended by Pope Francis in 2015. Father, I have just found the following, which may be of interest to you.
-- Talk by Fr. Joseph Fessio, SJ on the “Reform of the Reform of the Liturgy”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXbyTt2fxd4
"Talk given on November 2, 2022 at Star of the Sea Church. Fr. Fessio spoke on the reform of the reform of the Liturgy, a subject he knows well, especially given his relationship with Pope Benedict XVI.
"He discussed the following three points:
1) origin and meaning of the expression “Reform of the Reform”;
2) role of Cardinal Ratzinger/Pope Benedict;
3) Where we are and the path forward (including place of Extraordinary Form).

Speaking of the Pallium:
Here is a brief, but, in my opinion, interesting article in regard to the Pallium. Vincent Pham, who is an Archdiocese of Toronto seminarian, authored the article in 2017 A.D.

I am just underwhelmed by this news.
Seriously, we have so many "innovations" of the Bergoglio debacle that are far more critical to reverse than mere vestments. Sure, I suppose this is a good sign, but your headline makes us hope for something more substantive.
If Leo does these three things, I might just take him seriously. I don't expect any of them to happen soon, but this would certainly send a clear message that he is serious about all this "unity" talk:
1) Unleash the TLM from the control of bishops. I don't care how he does it, but rebuking "Traditiones Custodes" would be wonderful.
2) Utterly denounce and withdraw Fiducia Supplicans. It's a disgrace, an embarrassment and downright intellectually dishonest.
3) Re-activate and assign Bishop Strickland. He is one of America's best and certainly the most courageous among the U.S. Bishops. His forced retirement was craven revenge on steroids.
Like I said, if ANY of these things happen, it probably won't be very soon, but if any of them DO happen, I might just take this pope seriously. The last pope worked very hard to make me uninterested in the Vatican. For the immediate future, it's "wait and see".
slowly but surely!

MT Suit,
You’re just highlighting Francis’ break with tradition - give it a rest - you need time to explain Ratzgerian and Patristics to us
In regard to Pope Francis' reform in question:
Father Zuhlsdorf had written:
"Pope Francis has changed the way the pallium will be distributed to new Metropolitan Archbishops.
"Once upon a time, the pallium was simply sent out to those who were to receive it.
"There is nothing new here, historically speaking."
=======
Certain folks complained for years that Pope Francis, via such practices as having lived in the guest house, had cost the Church money.
=======
Certain folks have complained for years that Papal worldwide travel has proved costly, as well as unnecessary.
Example: The Chicago Archdiocese this Saturday at Rate Field, seating capacity nearly 41,000, will celebrate Pope Leo XIV's election as our Roman Pontiff.
Pope Leo XIV will save considerable money and energy as he will appear at said event via video message.
=======
In light of all of the above, we could return to the ancient tradition that Father Zuhlsdorf had referenced. That is, "Once upon a time, the pallium was simply sent out to those who were to receive it."

The point of my post is that Leo reversed Francis. More to come I am quite sure. 👍
Father McDonald, I understand the point that you have made. I am certain that additional reversals will follow. "Reversing" certain aspects of their predecessors' Pontificates is that which Popes have long practiced.
Examples:
-- Pope Benedict XVI "reversed/cancelled" his predecessors as he had cast aside the ancient, traditional, Good Friday prayer for Jews.
-- Pope Benedict XVI "reversed/cancelled" his predecessors ss he refused to have donned the Papal tiara.
-- Pope Saint John Paul II "reversed/cancelled" his predecessors when he refused the Papal tiara.
-- Popes Saint John Paul II, as well as Benedict XVI, "reversed/cancelled" one of their predecessors after another as they had prayed and/or worshiped in Synagogues, Mosques, as well as Protestant churches.
-- Pope Venerable Pius XII "reversed/cancelled" his predecessors as he had moved the Church beyond the ancient, traditional Midnight Fast.
-- Pope Venerable Pius XII "reversed/cancelled" his predecessors when he led the Church into the Ecumenical Movement.
=======
God has empowered Pope Leo XIV to teach, govern, and sanctify me. Therefore, I pledge my unconditional reverence and obedience to holy Pope Leo XIV.
I am on board with that which His Holiness may bind and loose. I hope that each of us accepts in peaceful fashion Pope Leo XIV's authority to do so.
Pax.

Father McDonald said..."The point of my post is that Leo reversed Francis. More to come I am quite sure."
I am quite certain as well. After all, as Pope Emeritus had noted, Popes have different temperaments, as well as that which they emphasize, in regard to their predecessors.
But as he had made clear, the vital thing is that our Popes have always held the True Faith.
=======
The following is a major mistake that certain folks had made throughout Pope Francis' Pontificate:
Said folks developed deep hatred for Pope Francis as they worked themselves into frenzies whenever he had "reversed/cancelled," for example, Pope Benedict XVI...or, Pope Saint John Paul II.
The folks in question had embraced the "I belong to Apollos,"..."I belong to Cephas"...destructive mindset.
"Pope Benedict XVI's take on the Council, as well as liturgy, is THE vision that we must embrace. No, it is only through Pope Saint Paul VI's lenses that we must view the Council/liturgical reform."
There were Pope Benedict XVI haters who jumped for joy whenever Pope Francis had "reversed/cancelled" his immediate predecessor. We have Pope Francis haters who jumped for joy when Pope Leo XIV "reversed/cancelled" his immediate predecessor.
"Good for Pope Leo XIV! Stick it to big, bad Bergoglio! Break the hearts of Bergoglio's 'fans.' Yea!"
It is beyond comprehension that there are Catholics who act that way.
Pax.

In this thread, MT bizarrely equivocates the hundreds of thousands of euros annually required to run Santae Marthae with the cost of a flew flights a year. Got to bolster the impeccability of St Francis of Protecting Well-Connected Clerics Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse!
Nick
🤣 Good one, Nick!
I concur! He’s predictably off base and cannot mount a credible response!
MT Suit is not playing with a full deck
Father McDonald,
Now that the mean old boss in Rome is dead, the Bishop of Saginaw has reversed his decision to end the TLM in a parish there. Could this be the "Leo Effect?"
https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2025/06/from-saginaw-michigan-bishop-allows-tlm.html
I am wondering if Cardinals Roche after meeting with Pope Leo is indicating to bishops to cool their jets about canceling these Masses or use their own judgment. Maybe no micromanaging from Rome?
Sorry, had commented on mobile so my editing suffered... should read "required to run Sanctae Marthae as a papal court"
Either works for me! I still believe (it is my opinion, thus it is a fact), that TC is ultra vires, mean-spirited, lacking in accompaniment and definitely not pastoral.
Though it doesn't effect me, jet cooling is great short-term, a fair and equitable plan is needed to provide longer term stability. These folks are not lepers.
