A REMAKE OF ALFRED HITCHCOCK’S “VERTIGO”?

This photo was taken at Atlanta’s West End St. Anthony’s Church. My brother, sister and I attended school there in the late 1950’s, early 1960. Went to the Ancient Latin Mass there very often. Of course it was the only Mass.

Where do these UGLY Miters come from and why would any Bishop want to wear this particular thing. If I could I would ask: "Your Excellency, what is the "look" you are going for here?

Their renovation: https://smithboland.com/projects/r/sapcc/

"The basis of design was to preserve the traditional architecture of the church while providing modern technologies and amenities that would preserve the building while bringing it up to the standards of today."

I'm not sure I understand how they succeeded. I suppose one should be happy that more wasn't removed. I don't understand what was so wrong with those statues/niches. Likewise the alpha/omega/holy spirit above the high altar. To create an large empty void by removing is odd. Shame.

I'm curious as to the trend of having the baptistry/font blocking the center aisle. Everything has to go around it, a procession, the canopy, a casket etc. Everything about it conflicts with the Byzantine Eastern notion of churching and baptism.

It has had a number of updates over the years. The most recent is a bit too sterile. The more recent before provided painting that allowed contrasts with the white marble original altar. I remember the pre Vatican II sanctuary with the altar railing. That was removed in the 70’s. There were two nice niches for St. Anthony and the Blessed mother now sadly gone.
