WHY ALL THE CLUTTER IN SO MANY SANCTUARIES TODAY?

Of course, we expect lavish decorations for Christmas and Easter, but isn’t this a bit overdone and too much:


Then there is this, ornate but not cluttered:


Of course it is Christmas, and one usually expect moderate exaggerated decorations:

Yes, too much crap, tables etc. How do they manage in the more simplistic photos?

After the destruction of so many churches and sanctuaries I think people felt something was missing and tried to make up for 1500 years of progress with a few minutes of interior decorating.

My thoughts exactly. Over-compensating for the whitewashing of the furnishings (and language, to boot) of the liturgy.
