Re: your masthead photo. When my friend Fr. Greg West built that church I was in the bordering parish in Port Wentworth. We also had a round window above the altar and, at certain times of the year, the "spotlight effect" would overwhelm those sitting in its path. He asked "What do y'all do about this?" I said that unless you put a heavy screen on the outside, there was nothing to be done.
I had St. Gregory’s 12:15 PM Mass on Monday. A funeral Mass preceded that Mass and incense was used at the end of the funeral to incense the casket. The sun indeed filters into the church through the circular window around that time of day, but the clear definition of the sun streaming toward the pews was enhanced by the lingering incense, about a half hour after that funeral Mass. I took the photo around 12:10 PM.
