HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE MOTHER OF GOD!

The Catholic Church celebrates three “Nativities”. These are the Nativity of Our Lord, the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist and today’s Feast (September 8th) the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

 Her mother is Saint Anne and her father Saint Joachim. The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary means that God gave her, at the moment of her normal conception resulting in the marital act of Saints Anne and Joachim, the singular grace of being conceived without Original Sin. By God’s grace and her free will she always said yes to God and thus remained sinless throughout her life.

I wonder what the Mother of God would think of this latest outrage from the Democratic Party's unions goons running public schools?

"The superintendent of the State of Oklahoma, Ryan Walters, called for Western Heights School District to "immediately" terminate a drag queen they hired to be an elementary school principal.

"It's outrageous to have a drag queen running a school, you know, here in Oklahoma that doesn't line up with Oklahoma values," Walters told Fox News Digital. "I hear from parents every day that are concerned with this woke left-wing indoctrination or schools, this gender theory that continues to be thrust upon our kids. It's completely inappropriate."

At some point, this kind of stuff will provoke a violent backlash. Going after the children is not a smart move

I have always admired the Church for preserving these pious stories and legends, which undoubtedly have some germinal truth to them, and likewise have always admired the Church stance that such stories do no harm and only do good to the Faith, might actually be true, and certainly cannot be disproven, and so no obstacle at all exists to belief in them. Why NOT believe them?

The modern skeptic disbelieves because they cannot be "proven" true, while the modern skeptic refuses to look at own self and its inability to know it even exists when asleep or that their automobile continues to exist when not under observation, none of which can be proven by their own standards.

Father McDonald, thank you for this wonderful thread.

From Vatican News: A few months ago, Pope Francis had noted:

“Mary, our Mother, is always a bond of communion for her People.”

Noting that both Scripture and apostolic tradition show Our Lady gathering the apostles and the community around her in an atmosphere of prayer, the Pope said “the Mother of Jesus, in a simple way, continues to call us.”

“Today the sweet name of Mary is calling you,” the Pope said, with an ancient invocation that speaks to us of encounter with God and with humankind.

==============================

One thing that I have learned over the decades from the Blessed Virgin Mary is to remain in unshakeable communion with the Vicar of Christ.

Today, via Holy Mary, Mother of God, as well as Pope Benedict XVI's holy, powerful example, I renew my "unconditional reverence and obedience" to Pope Francis.

In turn, via communion with Pope Francis, Holy Mother Church has assured me that I am in communion with God — the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost.

Via the above, I recognize Pope Francis' declaration: “Mary, our Mother, is always a bond of communion for her People.”

https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/252555/8-things-vatican-ii-says-about-the-blessed-virgin-mary

Washington, D.C. Newsroom, Oct 17, 2022

Nearly 60 years ago, Vatican II recognized several titles of the Blessed Virgin Mary. One of the principal documents produced by the council features a chapter centered on Mary. Lumen gentium, the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, was released by Pope Paul VI on Nov. 21, 1964.

“For it is the first time — and to say so fills our hearts with deep emotion — that an Ecumenical Council has presented such an extensive synthesis of Catholic doctrine on the place of Mary Most Holy in the mystery of Christ and of the Church,” he said.

=========================

1. Mother of God and Mother of the Redeemer.”

“The Virgin Mary...is acknowledged and honored as being truly the Mother of God and Mother of the Redeemer.”

=========================

2. Mother of the Church

“The Catholic Church, taught by the Holy Spirit, honors her with filial affection and piety as a most beloved mother,” the document reads.

=========================

3. Participant in the ‘Economy of Salvation’

"The Sacred Scriptures of both the Old and the New Testament, as well as ancient Tradition show the role of the Mother of the Saviour in the economy of salvation in an ever clearer light and draw attention to it."

=========================

4. The new Eve

"By her belief and obedience, not knowing man but overshadowed by the Holy Spirit, as the new Eve..."

=========================

5. 'Handmaid of the Lord’

“Embracing God’s salvific will with a full heart and impeded by no sin, she devoted herself totally as a handmaid of the Lord to the person and work of her Son...”

=========================

6. 'Queen of the universe’

"Finally, the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all guilt of original sin...and exalted by the Lord as Queen of the universe..."

=========================

7. ‘Model of virtues’

"And so they turn their eyes to Mary who shines forth to the whole community of the elect as the model of virtues."

=========================

8. ‘Sign of hope and solace’

"In the interim just as the Mother of Jesus, glorified in body and soul in heaven, is the image and beginning of the Church as it is to be perfected is the world to come, so too does she shine forth on earth, until the day of the Lord shall come, as a sign of sure hope and solace to the people of God during its sojourn on earth."
