WELL, I DID MY GOOD DEED FOR THE SEASON OF LENT!

I found this lost soul on the side of the road, as I departed Holy Family Church after the 8 AM Mass this Tuesday morning. No one else in sight. No shoes, just socks. So I did my due diligence, called 911 and two of our finest Beaufort County Deputies came to my rescue and this 5 year old. He knew his first name, not his last. He did not know his address, but it was nearby, he did not know his phone number. At the age of four, my father ingrained in me my full name, my full address and my phone number, just in case something like this happened. This was a first for me today. God bless this little kid! And God bless me for my good deed for the day!

Well done, Fr. McDonald! 😃

I hope he had merely escaped and was not neglected or abandoned. Did you get a follow up?

About three blocks from that photo is an apartment complex where numerous Hispanics who work on the Island live. I was not about to put him in my car and take him there!!! I waited for Beaufort County’s finest deputies to arrive. They were great with the kid and one of them held his hand as they walked toward that complex. I think he simply went outside and lost his orientation. I doubt that I will hear anything. I pray nothing illegal.

Father McDonald,

You took a wise course of action, contacting the police. If you had taken the boy to the complex yourself, the evening news would have been screeching:

Priest Had Young Boy in his Possession!

Yes, the same sickoes who LOVE Drag Queen Shows for children and transgenderism in schools. We live in a sick world, thanks to the Left and its captive institutions!

Another example of societal illness leaking into the "Clergy" aka Disciples of Satan:

"A Miami judge declined to block Florida’s 15-week abortion ban, HB 5, on Friday in a lawsuit brought by clergy members of several different faiths.

The clergy members — three rabbis, a Unitarian Universalist minister, an Episcopal Church priest, a Buddhist lama, and a United Church of Christ reverend — filed separate lawsuits against the State of Florida in August claiming that the law violates their rights to freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Those lawsuits have since been consolidated into one case.

The clergy members argue in their complaint that the law puts them “at risk of prosecution for counseling women, girls, and families to obtain an abortion beyond the narrow bounds of HB 5 as someone who aids and abets the crime.”

Deo gratias, Father McDonald, that you were there for the boy.

Secular forces have convinced many folks that priests should not be trusted with children.

But you shattered that false narrative.

I am convinced that the overwhelming amount of priests throughout the world are holy men.

Father McDonald, that, without question, applies to you.

===========================================================================================

Unfortunately, within the Church, there are folks who also promote the false narrative in question. Said folks promote the image that a considerable amount of priests are sexual perverts.

Certain folks within the Church have exploited that image of priests to defame our Vatican II Era holy Popes/the Council/Holy Mass of Pope Saint Paul VI.

The idea is to link sexual abuse committed by a microscopic amount of priests to the destruction that the Popes in question, Council, and liturgical reform, have unleashed supposedly within the Church.

Here is Exhibit A in that regard...the exploitation of the discredited Pennsylvania report:

https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2018/08/the-pennsylvania-truth-john-xxiii-paul.html

-- The Pennsylvania Truth: John XXIII, Paul VI, and John Paul II were no saints

"Another week and another massive scandal in the American Church...their express-rite canonizations are shown, with each passing week, to have been horrible mistakes."

"The greatest part of the horrid episodes documented by the Grand Jury report happened in the pontificates of John XXIII, Paul VI, and John Paul II. Some happened before."

"But as the Church "opened itself to the world", according to the desire of John XXIII, worldly behaviors infiltrated the Church more and more."

"The horrid episodes represent only what could be found in just six dioceses of one state of one country: the putrefaction runs wide and deep."

Pax.

Father McDonald,

If you ever consider re-locating this Democrat controlled "paradise" should be considered. Or is this a better place for Father K? They appear to love the poor in California since they have created so many of them!

"California has America’s highest supplemental poverty rate, 13.2 percent, meaning 5.1 million live in poverty in the Golden State.

With just under 12 percent of the nation’s population, California has 34 percent of America’s welfare caseload.

Fully half of homeless Americans (117,000 of 234,000) who chronically live on the street suffering from mental illness or drug abuse call California home.

Meanwhile, California’s energy costs have soared under a regime of intentional scarcity designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions—California’s electricity prices trail only Hawaii’s. Likewise, its gas prices are the highest outside of Hawaii, and both elected and unelected policymakers are pushing for the abolition of the internal combustion engine and natural gas-powered appliances, with crushing added cost implications for those least able to afford it."

It is a very good thing that California is the largest sub-national economy in the world, a fact that enables it to care for so many in need. Maybe people like TJM think California should leave the union, then he and other wealthy individials, as he has admitted to being, could step up and house the homeless, clothe the naked, feed the hungry, etc...

It is a very good thing that California produces 49% of the fresh market vegetables that people like TJM can enjoy. If he REALLY thouight California was such a horror, he'd stop consuming the top crops produced there: Almonds, Grapes, Berries, Strawberries, Walnuts,
Lettuce Tomatoes Pistachios Broccoli, Rice, Oranges, Carrots, Celery, and Peppers.

It is a very good thing that people like TJM, despite their many shortcomings, can use the internet, developed through the Defense Department and four research universities in California.

It is a good thing that California leads the nation in enacting strict air pollution laws, allowing people like TKM to brerathe cleaner air than he otherwise might encounter.

It is a good thing that people who have hearts might choose to leave them in San Francisco. People without hearts such as, well, you get my drift here...

Father K,

And last but not least, California is a destination where you can kill your baby up to the time the baby comes down the birth canal. So you would be very happy there!

By any metric, California is failing. Because of high taxes, crime, etc., California has lost the most people of any state in the US. But stay in your little fairytale land. I hope you move there so you can enjoy the "benefits" first hand. But like most liberals, you will continue to suck off a conservative state where life is good.

This is from your Mount Olympus, NPR:

"California is in the midst of a budget nightmare. With a $20 billion deficit and an unemployment rate above 12 percent, the Golden State is staying afloat by borrowing. Any tax hike would have to be approved by two-thirds of the state's lawmakers -- virtually impossible in the politically divided Legislature. And the situation is further complicated by the fact that much of the state's spending is governed by voter-approved initiatives.

Will California find a bailout, or has it become the first failed state? And are its problems unique -- or could other high-spending states soon follow in its footsteps?

Those were the questions facing a group of experts assembled for a recent Oxford-style debate. Part of the Intelligence Squared U.S. series, the debate featured three panelists arguing for the motion "California Is The First Failed State," and three arguing against.

In a vote before the debate, the audience at New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts voted 31 percent for the motion and 25 percent against; 44 percent were undecided. But after the debate, 58 percent agreed that "California Is The First Failed State," while 37 percent voted against the motion and 5 percent remained undecided."

It was a wise decision that you decided to become a clergyman because you would not have made it in the secular world.

There is a fascinating long YouTube clip of Victor Davis Hanson brilliantly discussing some of the issues re California raised here by both TJM and Fr K - it is not hard to find.

By any metric, California is failing... Oh?

Pew Research 2019-2020
States with highest population loss:
#1 - New York, 0.65%
#2 - Illnois, 0.63%
#3 - West Virginia, 0.58%
#4 - Mississippi, 0.38%
#5 - Louisiana 0.28%
#6 - TIE California and Michigan, 0.18%

Who is to blame for poor education? (I think it is simplistic to blame one party for almost anything in education, but this is the way SOME PEOPLE see it.)

Bottom 5 in education
#50 - Oklahoma - Republican governor
#49 - Louisiana - Democratic governor
#48 - Alaska - Republican governor
#47 - Mississippi - Republican governor
#46 - New Mexico - Democratic governor

Top 5 in Education
#1 - New Jersey - Democratic governor
#2 - Massachusetts - Democratic governor
#3 - Connecticut - Democratic governor
#4 - Minnesota - Democratic governor
#5 - Wisconsin - Democratic governor

Fr K,

So now Pew Research is the gold standard when recently you disparaged their research on belief in the Real Presence? Make up your mind.

Like Mark Thomas you shifted away from California’s manifest failures and tried to change the subject. Do you no longer adore NPR? According to US News and World Report California ranks 20th in educating its students while Florida ranks 3. Don’t have a heart attack! Though California is number one in teaching children about gender altering methods without parental knowledge and consent!

California has lost more population than any state, yet you are very incurious for the reasons why? Because you are like Mark Thomas reveling in your leftwing fantasies. They are losing the sane because they have a totalitarian state government, in love with high taxes to pay for illegal aliens upkeep and over regulation of business. California is at the bottom for being business friendly, hence why businesses and jobs are fleeing the state. California and New York are losing the wealthy who are going to tax friendlier states. Get it?

The rational are heading to Texas and Florida where they have freedom from morons in state governments who are as clueless as you as to what it takes to create viable businesses and jobs. I know you love states that allow teachers to teach the little ones about abortion, gender changing operations and providing grade school children with books about gay, oral sex. You are quite the priest!

You really need to put your money where your mouth is and move to the Gulags of California and New York!

Fr. Michael J. Kavanaugh said...

TJM - I didn't disparage Pew Research. In fact, I have cited it many times here, but you choose to overlook that. My mind is clearly made up. I think Pew is one of the more reliable survey groups available to us. It is not, however, the only one.

I cited a different survey with a MUCH larger sampling size. Most folks know that as a sample size increases the uncertainty decreases and we have greater precision.

No, I did not disparage Pew Research.

But now that will become one of the lies you repeat about me, along with the lie that I support abortion, that I think abortion is medical care, that I adore NPR, among others.

I also didn't shift anything. You said "by any metric" California was failing. I cited metrics that show that your claim is wrong. Still talking about California, still dealing with metrics. So, no, I didn't shift away from anything.

Folks who read this blog know your lies, so the only person that should be concerned about them is the one who tells them - you.

Fr. K

You are just like Mark Thomas and you lie all the time, and ignore facts which shatter your delusions.

California is failing, that's why sane people are fleeing the state, and going to successful states like Florida. I know you are all into abortion on demand, LGBT, etc. which comes to your biggest lie, claiming to be a Catholic priest while voting for a Party which legislates in stark defiance of CHurch teachings and law and everyone here knows it.

Go to Confession

Fr. Michael J. Kavanaugh said...

TJM says: "I know you are all into abortion on demand,..."

That is a lie. Everyone here knows it is a lie.

Your said "By any metric, California is failing."

I posted metrics, and could easily post more, that shows your claim to be false. Why you post things that are so easily shown to be untrue is beyond me.
