The BBC released a new version (3 part series) of Black Narcissus over Christmas which is very much worth seeing if you get a chance. It is still available on the BBC iPlayer but probably not accessible from abroad.

It is a great movie, but pardon me while I correct you, Father. The movie isn't Catholic. The nuns are Anglican.

You should publish, and continuously revise, your list of Catholic Movies with short reviews and reasons for their inclusion. I refer to similar lists, e.g. New York Times, WSJ, Chicago Times, etc. when considering what to watch.

My title to the post has a question mark as the nuns are indeed Anglican.

A film plot only a jaded producer and critic could love. Psycho sexual nun drama. Most everyone else wants to know WHY the first movie ever made, and especially why a remake.

You would hate the episode in the Gospel when Herod's under aged daughter does a highly suggestive dance for him and his entourage and he is so please with it (I wonder why?) that he tells her that he will give her anything even half of his Kingdom. Of course she goes to her mother, who asks for John the Baptist head because he had chastised her for her illicit sex with Herod.

Only a "jaded" Author of Sacred Scripture could love.

and then the same "Jaded" author gave us the sordid details of the story of King David and I think there is a story about Jezebel.

Whatever, Father. And the Bible is about nothing but a bunch of self-centered losers lacking even a teaspoon of spiritual life.

I saw the original movie as a young person in the 50's and was scandalized. I can't see what merit at all would warrant a remake of this movie.
