Oooh,
aaah, a new image of Jesus, Martha and Mary in our Martha and Mary
Chapel has been hung it the sanctuary! Out of respect for Richmond Hill’s history and that Henry Ford
named this once non denominational chapel built in 1938 after his mother and
mother-in-law, Martha and Mary, when our Diocese acquired it in 1955 for
St. Anne Mission, the subtitle Martha and Mary was kept. But today we
have the actual two Saints depicted in this chapel. I love Martha’s
sneer at Mary! It is quite a generous donation to the chapel. So without officially and actually changing its historic secular name, we just did.

Nice! Do you know anything about the painting? Oil, print, artist?
I am not sure who the artist is and when it was paint. I feel its style fits the chapel very well.
Nice! An appropriate evolution.
Interesting history, and thanks for background, as well as a great example of cultural appropriation in baptising a totally secular thing.
