It does seem to me that if anyone is to be believed Archbishop Vigano is the one I believe. It's time for Cardinal Wuerl to man-up, repent publicly and tell all that he knows because it is going to come out any way. Once again, we have to thank the secular press for its spotlight on lies and deception from those who should know better.
Cardinal Wuerl also does not forbid pro-abortion fake catholics, Holy Communion. I see a connection. He should be laicized so he can begin honest work as a DNC operative
Father McDonald, I don't have much in the way of belief in regard to Archbishop ViganĂ²'s tales. We know, for example, that he espoused nonsense in regard to his claims about "canonical sanctions."
Anyway, as I had done in regard to the Pennsylvania Report, and ViganĂ² tales, I will not rush to judgement in regard to the story in question about Cardinal Wuerl.
MT, The news is very damning and I would not be surprised if he resigns by the end of the day. I have no doubt now that Cardinal Wuerl was not aware of quiet sanctions placed against McCarrick. Wuerl needs to come completely clean for the sake of Holy Mother Church.
In some of the coverage today, there was a quote about how he said, in effect, oops, I guess I was "imprecise," and some blather about he meant rumors of abuse of minors. In other words, trying to blow smoke. Expecting us to believe that, poor Cardinal Wuerl didn't realize exactly what everyone really wanted to know. Ugh.
This is very disheartening but not surprising. What would you expect of a Cardinal who would give Holy Communion to drooling, pro-abortion fake catholics? From that moment on, I no longer respected Wuerl.
Please know that we have faith in priests like you and Father McDonald. You both are forthright and do not try to spin this very grave situation.
As Fr. Dan Firman used to say quite dramatically from the pulpit at St Josephs in Macon, "Get behind me Satan". Hear that Cardinal Wuerl. You're done! And to think he had the temerity to process into the National Cathedral in D.C. as a part of the G.H.W. Funeral. Get out of town.
Vigano is and will continue to be vindicated....now I want to know "what did HFPF know and when did he know it"?
Archbishop Vigano, a holy man, has been vindicated yet again.
"In any case, I myself brought up the subject with Cardinal Wuerl on several occasions, and I certainly didn’t need to go into detail because it was immediately clear to me that he was fully aware of it. I also remember in particular the fact that I had to draw his attention to it, because I realized that in an archdiocesan publication, on the back cover in color, there was an announcement inviting young men who thought they had a vocation to the priesthood to a meeting with Cardinal McCarrick.
"I immediately phoned Cardinal Wuerl, who expressed his surprise to me, telling me that he knew nothing about that announcement and that he would cancel it. If, as he now continues to state, he knew nothing of the abuses committed by McCarrick and the measures taken by Pope Benedict, how can his answer be explained?
"His recent statements that he knew nothing about it, even though at first he cunningly referred to compensation for the two victims, are absolutely laughable. The Cardinal lies shamelessly and prevails upon his Chancellor, Monsignor Antonicelli, to lie as well."
Fr. Fox, you have no idea how heartening it is to hear a priest express such sentiments. Even just a small indication of outrage, even though controlled, helps those of us on this side of the altar rail know not all our clergy have gone to hell in a hand basket.
I also echo my support and appreciation for Fr McDonald and Fr Fox and others like them that are standing up for what's right in all of this scandal. I pray that they and all other good priests are given the strength to carry the cross that their peers and superiors have placed on their shoulders.
Too bad priests can't band together and publicly issue a vote of no confidence in their bishop, archbishop or cardinal, forcing them to clean up their act or get out.

I'm sure whatever Cardinal Wuerl said was said with the official papal seal of approval.

TJM:
Thanks. To be very candid, I am extremely reluctant to express exactly how angry all this makes me.
Father Fox,
I know you must maintain your dignity, at least publicly!

Lots of priests are angry.
