IT IS TIME TO STATE THE OBVIOUS, GOVERNOR CUOMO IS AUTOMATICALLY EXCOMMUNICATED, BUT HIS BISHOP SHOULD MAKE IT PUBLIC AND FORMAL

This is outrageous!

Copied from the Deacon’s Bench:

That question has been a recurring refrain over the last several days—and grew louder after yesterday’s action, signing into law a sweeping bill that essentially allows abortion at any time, even to the last trimester. Cuomo’s own bishop slammed the law in the strongest terms. But some think he has not gone far enough. So they ask: Why hasn’t Cuomo (and other Catholic pols who support abortion) been excommunicated? A few years ago, canon lawyer Ed Peters addressed that:  To… Read more

Because many bishops are toadies and love their tax exempt status more than they do Christ and His Church. Also the Church is loaded with fake catholic priests and bishops who vote for the Abortion Party

TJM pretty much answered your question. For many of us, we already had the answer. Heck, we didnt even have to ask it... sad.

If I were making my decision to remain in the Church based on its "leadership," I would be gone. PF is inept, unmerciful to Faithful Catholics, and a loose cannon, and most of the American hierarchy you couldn't trust any farther than you could throw them. But, that is not my criteria. I believe in the Church and its teachings and know these timeservers will not be around forever. They will have to answer to God, just as I will someday.

Bishop Sharfenberger of Albany is actually a solid orthodox bishop who has condemned this bill publicly. Whether or not he will take official action remains to be seen. I hope he will stand up and set an example, though he probably (somewhat justifiably) fears retribution from Cuomo.

Daddy (the governor back in the 1980s) should have been too...and Geraldine Ferraro. Those type of politicians would have cheered segregationists getting "the boot" back in the 1960s, but not so with abortion, which unfortunately pretty much has been a Democratic cause celebre since 1976 (in terms of their national party platform). Worth noting that in New York, liberalization of abortion laws often were blocked by the GOP State Senate majority---but that majority is gone, and of course no one expects pro-life measures to receive the light of day in a Democratic legislature, right?!?

If this doesn’t merit a public and formal excommunication, it’s hard for me to imagine what would!

Hey! It’s not like Cuomo smirked at a Native American liberal activist!

Is Cuomo being linked to one specific abortion the only criteria for his excommunication? His Bishop stated that the Governor stated that he was a Catholic and then states that his actions go against Church teachings, and against the pope. The Bishop then states "You have already uttered harsh threats about the welcome you think pro-lifers are not entitled to in our state. Now you are demonstrating that you mean to write your warning into law. Will being pro-life one day be a hate crime in the State of New York?" His final statement was "Mr. Cuomo, do not build this Death Star." Cant he be excommunicated the same way Henry VIII was? King Andrew is in direct opposition with both the Pope and His Bishop, King Andrew is hostile to Catholics, and the Bishop fears that his flock will be persecuted under King Andrews rule. Isn't that enough? King Andrew is positioning himself to be head of a church, just like Henry.

Fake catholics like Cuomo engage in Orwellian language to justify their evil. Somehow an unborn baby becomes a fetus in order to mask the evil they are doing when they terminate a pregnancy. No woman says, "hey, I am having a fetus!" A normal woman will acknowledge, ab initio, that a baby is on the way. But what really frosts me is when a priest or bishop engages in sophistry to justify voting for a political party which has become the functional equivalent of the Nazis or Communists. I would NEVER accept the sacraments from such priests and I would call them out publicly so the faithful are not tricked into believing they are faithful priests. Jesus said it would be better for such people to be at the bottom of the sea with a milestone around their neck than to harm a child.

Who performs the excommunication, is it the Pope Cardinal or Bishop?

“The Holy Father was celebrating mass on Saturday in Calabria, a mob-heavy region in southern Italy, when he deviated from his prepared remarks and announced that the mafia are excommunicated. “Those who go down the evil path, as the Mafiosi do, are not in communion with God. They are excommunicated,” he said. The thousands who had gathered underneath the hot sun cheered.”

Of course Francis excommunicated bad people... it's not like they can repent or anything....

However, I do wonder about the migrants who steal and commit crimes.... hmmm... maybe it's just criminals in Italy....

Maybe the Holy Father should come to the US and at a public Mass announce the excommunication of Catholics who vote for the Abortion Party since they are going down an evil path. How could they be in communion with God?

TJM nails the point...Andrew Cuomo, Nancy Pelosi and company did not get to their current positions by a coup; voters had to cast ballots for each. Obviously a lot of Catholics are voting for those politicians. Of course in some districts, there really is no choice; for instance, if you live in the district of Atlanta Congressman John Lewis (who is said to be a civil rights leader---even with a 100 percent pro-abortion record), LOL getting a pro-life Republican (or any Republican for that matter) elected in a district that voted nearly 90 percent for pro-abortion Stacey Abrams for governor. Catholics have the power in many elections to deny the pro=abortion politicians their seats---but they don't use that power.
