AM I THE ONLY ONE IN COMPLETE DISPAIR ABOUT A MADAM PRESIDENT CLINTON OR MISTER PRESIDENT TRUMP?

Shortly I am off to vote and my selection for president will be eeny meeny miney moe.....

I fear for the future, a madam that will accelerate the post Christian hyper secularism of Europe here in the USA or a mister who strikes me as off his rocker and unfit.

God never said the gates of hell would not prevail over the USA! The future of the Union is dark in my eyes. Just my most humble opinion and fear.

Either way, there'll be nothing to celebrate. By the way, I'd be careful using that "eeny meeny miney moe" rhyme. It apparently has a troubling origin.

DISPAIR? DISPAIR?

You're kidding, right?

Don't curl up in a ball just yet. This is a great opportunity to remodel and clear out redundancy.

Vote for the candidate who will nominate pro-life originalist judges. Need I say more?

Just a guess but I would bet you will go with Hillary.

You should have listened to Bisop Morlino on "The World Over" (replayed by EWTN last night). You are not voting for a person. You are voting the future plan of our country; you are voting AGAINST the future you don't want for our country.

Bishop Morlino and Bishop Paprocki (a civil and a canon lawyer) both support Trump. Faithless bishops and priests support the Abortion Queen, Hillary, who says babies have no rights until they are born alive.

Anonymous at 8:49 is correct. From my own personal perspective, I told my 18 year old daughter that I was 19 in 1980 when I voted for Reagan for the first time and 23 in 1984, the second time. I am 55 now. I pointed out to her that we still have federal judges and supreme court justices who were appointed by Reagan. I told her that the person she votes for this time will also appoint judges who will still be serving when she one day finds herself at my current age. She got the point and voted accordingly . . .

Read this readers and weep. The Protestants are far more moral than we Catholics. Our "bishops" should be tarred and feathered along with the faithless pastors who promote evil by voting Democratic:

Clinton Trump Johnson Stein Other Not Sure

Protestant 33% 53% 7% 2% 0% 4%
Catholic 48% 41% 4% 2% 1% 4%
Other 40% 45% 7% - 5% 4%
None 55% 22% 11% 4% 3% 5%

No, Father, you aren't the only one.

This election is a divine judgment on our nation. We are between the devil and the deep blue sea.

If we didn't have a corrupt national media (Democrats with bylines) we would have better candidates. I put the media and US Catholic Bishops in the same category.

I like what I saw this morning on the way to work in Atlanta zip code 30318, a small Baptist Church sign---"Vote Right: Elect Jesus Christ for Eternity!" But I'm sure it would be beneath is dignity to want that position!

As for the bishops mentioned above supporting Trump, it will matter little as both their respective states, Wisconsin and Illinois, are going to back Clinton---neither state has backed a Republican for president in over 25 years. They also run the risk of marginalizing themselves if Trump does not win---the old :his endorsement did not work" reality. And I say all this as someone not backing Clinton, or ever having voted Democratic for president.

The GOP convention was the most pro-life platform EVER. The DNC convention featured a Skype from prison by the notorious dr. Gosnell and was the most vociferously pro-abortion platform EVER.

Trump has been talking about getting us OUT of wars and de-escalating tensions with the Russians while Hillary is blaming the Russians for everything and urging us to get more involved in flashpoints...so if there's war, it'll be much more likely from a President Hillary.

Oh, and Trump doesn't smoke or drink alcohol. Hillary is a known "social drinker". So again, if the worry is nuclear confrontation.... having her on the button is not safer than a sober Trump.

So no one misunderstands. I have the greatest respect for Fathers McDonald and Fox, bright stars in a firmament of darkness. They are outstanding priests. But I am sick and tired of left-wing loon priests who subordinate their Faith to the "mimimum wage" and the Dem Party's pursuit of intrinsic evils like abortion and gay marriage. Next time I run into one of those priests, I will let them have it.

"This election is a divine judgment on our nation."

First, your presumption of knowing God's mind is breathtaking. Re-read soon the Book of Job, especially the part where God put Job in his place for presuming to know God's mind. Chapter 38 is a good one for your reflection.

Second, this statement is highly self-serving because it lets US off the hook. We have the candidates we have because we have created the ethos in which they could be nominated.

"The Media" didn't do it. George Soros didn't do it. The Koch brothers didn't do it. God has not visited Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on us as some kind of judgment or comeuppance for our transgressions. This tragedy is man-made.

As Christians, it is our mission to spread the Gospel. However, Catholics in particular do very little to invite non-believers into the Faith. If we do not evangelize and convert our nation, then how can we expect the average voter to make good decisions, especially in the primaries?

I'm just as concerned about a grandiose, Leftist Pope who wants to add more Beatitudes. Hubris, anyone? Presumption? Heresy?

What a complete joke this Pope is making of the Church.

Bee here:

It's interesting...I didn't make up my mind completely until very late last night. I was going to write in a candidate, because not voting for Clinton was a no-brainer, but I was having a hard time with the idea of voting FOR Trump.

Our priest in his homily at Mass on Sunday spoke about how the one party says they are pro-choice, but really are "no-choice" except if it's their choice. He encouraged us to think carefully about the kinds of things that would probably happen in our society if the liberals were elected, including continued and increased persecution of Christians and prevention of free exercise of religion.

As of yesterday night I still intended to write in, but I was tuned into a Protestant minister on T.V., and he spoke about the Republican and Democratic platforms, and mentioned although he certainly understood the trepidation of voting for the man Trump, the issue is really to look at the platforms and compare the party platforms, and vote for that.

That sealed it for me. Today, in the voting booth, I held my nose and voted for Trump. I knew I had to show my support for the platform, not the person.

God help and bless America.

Bee

Bee,

What a beautiful statement. You were open to the truth. Too bad that certain priests who post here voted for evil. May God have mercy on their souls

John Nolan said...

Whatever you think of the two candidates, establishment politicians with a strong sense of entitlement need to be reminded that they are the servants of the people. In the UK they got this reminder forcefully on 23 June. In the US they got it last night.

Trump's victory is good for democracy.

Yes, Bee, exactly. Too bad for us Catholics that you had to rely on a Protestant minister on T.V., but he spoke the truth and you did your best-- conscience formation is what it's all about.

Re: Good for Democracy

De Tocqueville defines individualism as “a calm and considered feeling which disposes each citizen to isolate himself from the mass of his fellows and withdraw into the circle of family and friends; with this little society formed to his taste, he gladly leaves the greater society to look after itself.”

Now, De Toqueville says that this individualism, which is based on misguided judgment rather than depraved feelings, is an inherent characteristic of democrary. it allows for a greater possibility of tyranny and diminishes the virtues of selflessness and love of one’s neighbor — and, besides, self-sufficiency is a chimera, as no person ever lives by his personal efforts alone. The effect of individualism on morals seems worth considering, since there does seem to be a marked shift in our understanding thereof from other times and places. Have we traded a positive understanding of social responsibility: that we mutually assist and instruct each other, for a negative one: that we not interfere? (Alexis de Tocqueville on Individualism December 17, 2009 / Molly Dodd, https://mollydodd.wordpress.com/.../alexis-de.../)

Nolan gets it. Good on us for rejecting entitlement; bad on us for not having better choices.

Well, Anonymous got it wrong when he said "As for the bishops mentioned above supporting Trump, it will matter little as both their respective states, Wisconsin and Illinois, are going to back Clinton---neither state has backed a Republican for president in over 25 years" because as we know Wisconsin did go for Trump, which goes to show that every vote does literally count and nothing can be taken for granted in this day and age. I don't even live in the States but the States has such an influence on other countries that I am mighty glad that Trump was elected. Certainly, he has said some things that I am sure he now regrets but everyone, even at his age, can grow and learn, and when you dig through the entrenched media bias against him there are many who say he has done a lot of good things and he said himself he gets on best with the ordinary man in the street than the elites. This election certainly proved that ...
