This is from Rorate Caeli:
Apostolic Letter "Misericordia et Misera" and the SSPX
Last Friday, the Holy See announced that the Apostolic Letter
Misericordia et Misera would be published on Monday -- the Pope signed
it today, last day of the Jubilee of Mercy.
Now, many had the intuition, considering the timeframe of the
authorization for confessions for SSPX priests (granted last year and
ending, supposedly, today), that the Letter would contain something on
the SSPX. We can confirm that, at least if no last-minute surprise comes
along, that it will indeed contain something regarding the Society of
Saint Pius X.
Let us pray, wait, and see.

But, they're so rigid, and possibly demented, if one digs deeper. But I guess a field hospital needs a shell-shock ward.
SSPX Resistance blogs have dampened the rumor that His Holiness Pope Francis will regularize the SSPX tomorrow. The blogs report a German-language interview given three days ago.
Cardinal Müller was asked the following questions, followed by his responses:
Question: "There are different signals for a possible approach or reconciliation with the traditionalist SSPX. At what stage are the negotiation?"
Cardinal Müller: "The Pope and on his behalf our Congregation, together with the Commission "Ecclesia Dei", strive to bring about reconciliation and restore full communion. In the discussions, we have always tried to remove the concerns. I hope that the leaders of the SSPX will take the steps to re-enter the Catholic Church.
Question: "But at the moment nothing is happening?"
Cardinal Müller: "The decisive breakthrough is not yet there."

French Traditional Web sites report with great confidence — for whatever that is worth — that the SSPX mention tomorrow will concern only the extension of Pope Francis' 2015 A.D. declaration that the Faithful who approach "priests of the Fraternity of St. Pius X to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation shall validly and licitly receive the absolution of their sins."
Bishop Fellay stated this year that Pope Francis intended to extend beyond the Holy Year the above recognition.

SSPX has absolutely nothing to gain from any reconciliation with the Vatican, especially under this Pope. Francis would only be reconciling with them because he is an indifferentist, anyway. Doctrinal or ecclesial differences or disagreements are no big deal with this guy. I'd rather see them reconcile under someone like Benedict who would take the differences seriously and move with caution and care. It would mean a lot more.

"A reliable source tells me that tomorrow the pope will give full recognition to the Fraternity of St. Pius X (Lefebvre)."

SSPX is far more Catholic than most Novus Ordo parishes. We had a woman read the Gospel and preach the sermon on Sunday.
This means NOTHING, this Papacy has no love for the S.S.S.X. never has never will, so please don't even bother stating so. Besides the Pope just gave priests the right to FORGIVE women who had ABORTIONS, this sickens my stomach to no end, how in God's name can this papacy continue????? STOP DEFENDING THIS MAN YOU ARE A ROMAN CATHOLIC PRIEST FOR GOD'S SAKE SPEAK UP AND DEFEND THE TRUTH DEFEND ROMAN CATHOLIC TEACHING DON'T BE AFRAID OF YOUR BISHOP!! ACT LIKE A MAN AND IF YOU GO DOWN IN FLAMES THEN YOU HAVE DONE YOUR JOB AS A ROMAN PRIEST SHOULD!!
Anonymous,
Calm down. Most priests already have faculties to forgive abortion. Are you saying abortion is unforgiveable? Surely you can't mean that.
